697 this week with All-road only. Probably should of switched game 3 but still seeing what this ball can do. Looking back SoniQ would be be game 3 choice.

Re: Fall Winter 2021 Leagues - 09/25/21 04:01 PM

Well 633 this week.. All I can say is when I feel 633 is a bad night I am bowling well overall. Last game is the culprit again.

Re: Fall Winter 2021 Leagues - 10/07/21 08:49 PM

We're on our 4th week. Series so far:

598
455 (I was burnt this weekend from bowling an earlier tournament)
599
618

My high game so far is 277.

My back is doing really [censored] and will need surgery. Other than that, I'm doing peachy. thumbsup

Bowled twice same league since last post. 648 and 674. Getting a little more consistent over 3 games using primarily the Allroad and Son!q

Re: Fall Winter 2021 Leagues - 10/09/21 04:59 PM

Is it humid where you bowl? Here in sunny CA, lane-oil only lasts a game or a little more. In some senior leagues, they get 15 minutes of shadow bowling. Hell! The shot begins to break-down before league ever begins.

Re: Fall Winter 2021 Leagues - 10/09/21 05:29 PM

I bowl at La Habra 300 (Glenn Allison's house) and break down varies from pretty decent to horrendous depending on the temperature and humidity. People bring personal fans with them, it gets pretty bad sometimes.

Re: Fall Winter 2021 Leagues - 10/09/21 05:39 PM

That would be tough. I bowled in Wisconsin for 3 years and during the winter, there was 'no' humidity. Everyone has a humidifier running in their homes 24/7. Bowling centers too. Snow wasn't even slippery.

Never been to Georgia, but had a person I spent a lot time on the phone with from Social Circle. Whenever I needed to be soothed, I could call her and her voice would heal me. There was another in Coosa Pines, Alabama. Southern drawls are underrated.

I met Glenn Allison at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno. When you consider lane patterns today, to claim Glenn shot his 900 on a blocked-condition is a joke.

Re: Fall Winter 2021 Leagues - 10/09/21 05:49 PM

Not to mention the technology of balls of today. Things like weight blocks and reactive resin cover stocks didn't exist. Then you have strong bowler with insane rev rates using those balls. They just need to hit somewhere near the pocket and they'll strike.

Yeah, the ABC (now USBC) still refuses to recognize Glenn's 900. thumbsdown

Re: Fall Winter 2021 Leagues - 10/09/21 05:55 PM

The ABC existed before personal computers had made serious in-roads. All their information I think was stored on IBM punch-cards. No kidding. If you want to go back and find some honor score from way back, USBC will actually go into that information and provide you with what they have.

Re: Fall Winter 2021 Leagues - 10/09/21 06:03 PM

They don't need to look at any of my punch cards. I haven't hit any milestones yet. No 300, no 800. frown

The week before last, I shot the front 9 but pulled the 10th ball. livid

Re: Fall Winter 2021 Leagues - 10/09/21 07:57 PM

I did that last Tuesday. Started with 8 and then peeled everything off and left the 5. My teammates said I threw a 'My Pillow Ball'. LOL!

Our league is trios x 4 games.

Re: Fall Winter 2021 Leagues - 10/10/21 01:10 AM

Yep, when I pulled my shot, it went light brooklyn and I left the 6 I believe. One of the guys gave me a ribbing about coming over to film the 10th frame and I let him down.

Re: Fall Winter 2021 Leagues - 10/10/21 06:59 AM

Boat we have high humidity most of the time. Last 2 league dates it was was raining was probably close to 100%. First shift fresh oil. Usually can go with the All-road a couple of games no problem maybe longer. May also with how they oil the lanes. Where I bowled before at a Bowlero they would break down early and different for each lane and may be completely different from week to week.

Re: Fall Winter 2021 Leagues - 10/10/21 09:27 AM

Funny that you mention humidity. There has been two nights this season, this week being one of them, where a bunch of bowlers were having trouble sliding due to the high humidity in the center even with wood approaches. However, I was fine and bowled well this week. Someone I know well on the other team was joking around that he was jealous not of how I was bowling but that I could slide. I have SST8's with the longest slide setup I can get for the sole and heel. He said he also has his 3G's set up for a longer slide. Same thing two weeks ago, everyone complaining about sticking but me.

Speaking of sticking, the other week my foot found some candy on the approach left by some nice kid or adult. I normally use a S10 sole but good thing I had a S12 in my bag. Between these two soles, I never have a problem with sticking unless it's a foreign substance.

Struggled a bit last night. 162, 202, 192.

I guess everyone else was too, my 202 tied for high for the scratch side pot. It was a 3-way tie. rotfl

Re: Fall Winter 2021 Leagues - 10/29/21 04:39 PM

Not bad at all last Sunday. 209, 258, 179.

With my back problems, I think this is probably the best I will be able to do for the time being. I'm probably going to have back surgery sometime this year which will set me back again I imagine.

There will be those days Boss where you have to grind for every mark.

I had a pretty sour night on Sunday. Not gonna post the scores, that bad. thumbsdown

Re: Fall Winter 2021 Leagues - 11/17/21 12:45 AM

I had other commitments and had to skip league this past Sunday night. I did however bowl a handicap tournament in the morning and did OK during qualifying.

183, 217, 219

I was ousted the first game of match play. The downtime between the end of qualifying and when match play starts really kills me.

Didn't feel all that hot last night but I managed to grind it out.
