My videos - 09/20/11 10:14 PM

Here are videos of my approach. Looking for any comments that may improve my game. I tend to fall off to the right occasionally. I have included videos of a good approach back view, back view where I fall off to the right, and a side view. Thanks for looking

You have great form and use your legs very well, this is what I like to see.

The main issue I see is your pushaway is too long and over extended to the point it is making you late. Watch my video, I explain how to do the push away without over extending:

One thing I noticed is that I can see the muscles in your arm - either you're noticeably buff all the time, or there is a lot of muscling going on. . .

It has been around a year and a half since I posted my videos on here. I have made some changes to my approach and thought I would post new videos.

The things that I am focusing my attention on right now with my bowling are: Posting the shot, Watching the ball down the lane, and loosening up the armswing.

I have included two sets of videos 1 playing a straighter line and the second moving in as much as the lanes would allow that day and trying to swing the ball more.

Straighter line.

Deeper line

Any comments are encouraged.
Thanks for looking.

Bowling is not a muscle sport, most PBA bowlers weigh under 200 lbs, some of best weigh under 190.You don't look as stiff as you did in the 1st video. AT the beginning add a small knee bend and forward lean and keep it throughout the approach.
So with that being said here goes.

Setup - Tilt your bowling side shoulder down a little.you have the weight of the ball mostly in your right hand ,so if your shoulders are level in the setup the your raising your right shoulder.

2nd step- Allow the ball to fall down towards your knee in the pushaway. It takes muscles to lift the ball up in the pushaway.

3rd step - (Remember small knee bend and forward lean)You look a little stiff here. When you allow the ball to drop in the pushaway you must keep a long 3rd step so that the ball will be behind your leg (yellow circle)at this point.

4th step - More forward lean here. Most pros have their balance arm forward not up. When you get the pushaway down , long 3rd step , step 4 will be short.

You look good at the release point. I can't think of a pro that follows through like you (I'm sure there is someone).

Here is your homework.
work on the forward lean and lower shoulder then work on the pushaway, get it down then take a long 3rd step.
Work on one thing at a time!!!

Thanks for the tips I will start working on them ASAP.

One quick question if I push away lower won't that drop my ball speed slightly?

No your feet should (naturally) speed up to compensate.

To add to what's been said, your elbow is going up and out in front of you too far in the push away, I posted my video showing how to do the push away in response to your previous video. Try not to let your elbow go past the front of your chest, and then let the ball just drop into the swing, the ball will straighten your arm at the bottom of the swing as it falls. This boosts the momentum of the swing and actually increases your ball speed and gets the ball into the swing quicker which will improve your timing. As it is your push away is so slow and deliberate that it is making you a whole step late with your swing, this causes you to cut the swing short and kill the natural momentum of the swing.
