BTW, thanks for the no-tap advice, sk8. Helped out tremendously cuz you're right...helps open up relaxed swing. Had far less tugging and pulling during the actual tournament last week cuz of it.

You're welcome Domo, glad it worked for you. Now its just a matter of keeping that free swing in place for an extended time. I notice mine still creeps away without working on it.

Chalk tonight up to still trying to figure out what my Hy-Road can and can't do. I had a few good shots early, but quickly had to migrate inside. My spare game was largely absent as well tonight, which didn't help matters. My third game was the one that made me feel semi-decent about the night; although it was only a 154 (and still the best game on the night, I was playing much deeper inside than usual, and more or less finally figured things out in the middle when I decided to slow down, but swing it out more, keeping the side rotation. Attacking the lanes with this strategy, I had 3 strikes from the 5th frame on, including a double in the 5th and 6th frames. This might have been the best horrible night I've had bowling, all told. Team only took the first game, largely on the strength of Rob's 236, but we lost a close second game and got blown out of the water last game, with Sean Richard looking like he was going to string together 12 in the last game until the 8th frame.
As is custom with me, here's my team photo:

It was back to league night as the GF and I didnt bowl last weds because we were at Nationals. We had a sub and lost all 7 last week, a 149 average female bowler shot a low 600 series at our expense.
We were 3 points out of first place and it was position round. I was using the Cell and was clean right until the 10th frame for a 199. Then went 211-267 for 677. That 267 was all strikes except a 10 pin I wiffed on in the 8th frame. I had a vicious messenger that rattled around but didnt take out the 10 pin. That was what kept me from adding another 300. On the night we won 5 out of 7 points and puts us back into a tie for 1st. I missed 2 10 pins, got robbed on a 4-9 leave and had 2 wash outs or else Id have been in the 700s. League is a lot easier than the USBC Open I can tell you that.

Started off yesterday's sportshot league with a 114 on the Chameleon. I had four 2-10s that game and two washouts. One strike the whole game, and my first spare was in the 9th frame. The next game I beat a 114 in the 5th frame and finished out with a 198 game. Finished the series with a 212. It's sad when you're happy to shoot a 520 series. BTW, the first game I was playing a bunch of different line trying to get something to work mostly using my Rattler. Moved on to the Smoking the next two games playing around 10 to 8.
After that we moved a couple pares down and prebowled for next week since every one is going to be at JOG. Pulled out the Copperhead because the Smoking wasn't getting enough backend reaction and I shot better than that [censored] 114. 172, 189, 234. Both times, I got better each game through the series. I'll take the 595.

First week on the Scorpion in the PBAX league last night:
175-167-164 = 506
I shot spares all night because I couldn't string two strikes together. I played up the Track area with my Raw Hammer Anger since I recently resurfaced it to 1000. Haven't used the ball this past year so I thought I would give it try.
The pattern exhibited and over/under reaction depending on how I moved which kept me fishing for a line all night. During my fishing expedition I left some ugly splits. I was pleased with my accuracy and spare shooting, but I could not find a solid line to the pocket.
The read I had on the pattern didn't seen to match a scorpion because there seemed to be a dry streak in the middle similar to a reverse block. There was some rumbling about the lane machine not being setup properly. I wonder how real these patterns are compared to what the Pro's bowl on (barring lane surface, humidity, etc.) ?

Im in a Monday 5 person mixed league. Currently in first place due to my GF, and friends GF ridiculously high handicaps.
170-178-142=490. Missed three easy spares last game. Still throwing a straight ball; will start spinning when I get a new ball. Currently throwing a plastic Incredible Hulk ball a friend gave to me 6 years ago from a Marvel Comic league.

Thursday night scratch league, 4-man teams bowling match play.
I went 237-276-223-255--991. Had the front 8 in the 2nd game and nearly another 8-bagger to close out the last game. Only had 2 opens: blew a 10-pin the first frame of the first game and got it too wide early in the 6th frame of the 3rd game and left the 4-6-7. I'm averaging 222 in this league which is probably in the top 10 out of 80+ bowlers.
I swept 5 points from my man and overall my team won 21.5 out of 30. We're in 2nd place and bowl position round next week against 1st place.

Well, the summer semi-retirement is almost over not even halfway through the season.
Going to practice with Linda tomorrow morning, and then the two of us are entering a Scotch doubles (man-woman) local tournament in the evening for the heck of it.
Wish us luck! Oughta be a fun ride. Vic
