Dennis, hope things go well and you're able to bowl this Fall.
I feel like quitting sometimes when I get frustrated with my performance. After a day or so I bounce back and get right back into it.

Dennis, Maybe the remedy is just plain rest. It might not take the entire fall season, maybe it takes a month and your body is able to right itself again. Even being a non-contact sport, bowling can put quite a strain on the body. Any repetitive motion can do significant damage over a long period of time.
Just look at the Grand Canyon!

Sk8, I definitely feel this can be corrected. I have nerve pain in my sliding leg that, apparently is being caused by compression of L1, 2 and 3 vertebrate in my back. Ortho Doc says I feel the pain at the end of the nerve, which is in the hip. Recommends an operation on the spine. Phys Therapist says don't get the operation, cause I will have to fuse the spine, and not bowl again. Chiro guy helped, then it came back. I will have an appointment with an acupuncturist tomorrow, as another alternative talked over with the Therapist.
I just don't know where to go from here.
It hurts my bowling, and I really miss pushing a lawn mower.

I've never considered quitting at all. I've bowled with a long arm cast on my opposite hand, with a hairline fracture on my slide foot, my bowling wrist in a brace, not to mention the occasional knee brace(s) as well as a few excedrin. I just love the game to much.

Is this sarcasm or are you being serious? If you do get all fixed up you can come push mine around all you want to make up for lost time.
Well, my wife thinks it is an excuse. But, if I were able to push a mower, it would tell me, I'm fixed. It's sort of a benchmark.
Just think, I could save $30 a week, and bowl more.

Dennis, from someone who had a similar affliction (too many jumps and too many heavy rucksacks) go online and get "Back care Yoga for Beginners" by Rodney Yee. I have been medication and pain free for about six years. My neurosurgeon said "whatever you're doing...keep doing it. It's worht $14.95 to find out.

Thanks Wafhog. I'll get it. I am at my wits end with differing Doctor opinions. What I read is not promising in the long run. Spine fusions will severely limit my mobility. I move from Ortho types to an interview with an Acupuncturist tomorrow. Really don't know much about them. There is also an electronic muscle/nerve stimulus treatment that will be next to explore. I believe it is called TENS, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation.

Dennis, I have a relatively small yard, and a reel mower. That should be right up your alley. I will offer to sit on the porch and coach you. Afterwards, I'll make a nice big pot of spaghetti with sauce, heavy on the garlic. Sorry, no meatballs.
