Didn't Baltimore host one year many many many years ago?
Yes back in 82. It was my first year in adult leagues, and I had no idea how to register to bowl in it, I wish I had though. Information wasn't as readily available back then.

CoachJim, that's because Al Gore hadn't invented the internet yet.

In '82 I was in Okinawa, my dad was stationed there in the army, and I wasn't the least bit interested in bowling. I actually started bowling about 10 years ago. Kinda wish I had gotten into when my dad was doing it so I could have bowled with him. While my dad was bowling, I think his hi set was like 580 something. That would be a bad night for me. After I shot my 2nd 300 I gave him my first 300 ring.

One of the best days of my life was when I cut school (U of MD) and went to practice, as I was putting my shoes on, my Father walks in (cutting work) and we each asked what the other was doing here and had a good laugh. Then we proceeded to bowl out of our minds, we bowled 4 or 5 games and every game came down to shots in the 10th frame and all games were 230+ (really good for back then especially in that house).
I remember the Angle just came out (first urethane ball ever made) and we each had secretly bought one, (secret from my Mom lol). We both had this big grin as we pulled the new "Secret Weapon" out of our bags and laughed again because we were going to destroy each other with it. I looked at the Angle my Father just placed on the rack, he grinned and said "Yep" I went to my bag and pulled mine out and put it on the return and said I won't tell Mom if you don't. I miss my Dad.

Some of my fondest memories are of bowling with my Dad. Glad you guys had the same fun times. Those were great times.
My son won't be able to say that. As, I quit bowling when he was born, and returned when he was out of the house and age 24. Oh, we have bowled a couple of times together, but it was not the same.

I wish I could have bowled with my dad. He came in a few times to watch me bowl during leagues. He would also be the one I would call when I would shoot 300 or 800. I miss my dad too

Wow, awesome memories there.
Unfortunately I don't have any family background in bowling (I'm the first in my extended family to take it up). But if I have any children I can look forward to bowling with them someday.
