beanies,
First off, welcome to the site.
Now onto the bowling ball. I really do not think the weight should be much of an issue, of course this is assuming you are physically healthy with no major problems. If you are serious about learning the game and becoming well versed in the sport I would highly recommend you getting a coach and taking at least a few lessons. Right now you are still "green behind the ears" and will pick up on the game very quickly with a coach, as there will be little to no bad habits to break. I have had a coach from week 1 of my bowling career and I would never go without one. I wouldn't change a thing in how I came into the game, except maybe getting into it earlier in life.
Posting a video in the "videos" section would also be a benefit for you. I am sure we could help you feel a little more comfortable with your own game, and the new ball as well.
