Personally, I don't think it's fair, because I thought an international exemption was for international stars to try their hand on the PBA tour. Monacelli has already competed 20+ years on the PBA, with 19 titles, shouldn't it be given to someone with less experience?

I agree. That's what I thought too. It was to showcase an international player and make his name known on the PBA Tour.
Then again, Monicelli is a popular bowler, known by many fans. And, the PBA needs as much recognition on the tour to improve its viewer numbers and TV ratings.

Monacelli almost made the show at the us open, and was leading it for most of the time, I think that's why they gave him an exemption. I wish they would give one to Richie Wolfe.

Richie Wolfe had a nice game to watch.
I'd like to see Randy get to bowl in all the tournaments. Everything I've seen recently says he still has his chops. His form on the Ultimate Scoring Championship and in recent Storm Promos looks just like he form that won him so many titles.
If they really want to feature international stars, and fire some people up, they should give it to Oksu

They already have. One of the three international exemptions went to the EBT points leader, which was him.
Then again, these international exemptions are only for the World Series in August.
Wasn't Richard Wolfe exempt at one point, a couple of years ago? He does look like he has great form. And that 240 game that still lost was just bad luck (plus some good luck on Barnes's side).

As an historical point, Amletto Monacelli did, in fact, make it to the TV show @ the US Open. He lost to Richie Wolfe in the first stepladder match.
