Hey, welcome to the discussion jamesar. The Black Diamond should be the new and improved Black Pearl. I haven't jumped into that line, but know many who have, with success.
Stigmata, as was mentioned, the pin should be placed where you want the ball to roll. I have 2 up and 2 balls drilled down. Because of the strong, continuous roll of these balls, many people use them for heavy oil controlled conditions where pearl or polished just don't cut it. The symetrical core gives it this look. They don't Flip.

ok so i'm still new to the whole drilling layout and still attempting to learn about pin placement.... the pin down will roll sooner and give more arc for heavy oil? . .

Yup, the ball will give you a earlier read with a arc like motion rather then skid/Flip. This is the layout most pros tend to go with on heavier concentrations of oil.

From the L/M drill instruction sheet:
Moving the pin up and down, in relation to the center line, will change the length of the ball reaction. A pin placed at the center of the grip will provide the earliest roll (it is not recommended to place the pin any lower). As the pin is moved up, the length of the ball reaction increases. Many top players prefer pin placements above the fingers.

I really was'nt in the market for a new ball, but I must admit...I am really intrigued to see LM new additions. I love my LM Sting, and would like to try another LM ball. Something a little milder perhaps.
