Thought I'd start the thread on the upcoming women's world championships by posting that the USBC has announced the six-member team that will represent the US at the Cashman Center on the USBC Open lanes from July 27 to August 2. The team consists of Lynda Barnes and Stefanie Nation, who competed in the last two women's world championships, along with Carolyn Dorin-Ballard, Liz Johnson, Kim Terrell-Kearney, and Wendy Macpherson.

With the entry deadline now past, it was announced that a record 46 nations will compete in this World Women's Championships. As far as the oil patterns the women will compete on, there is a bank of 3 short and 3 medium patterns, from which Mexico's Daniel Falconi, one of the technical delegates for the event, will select one short and one medium pattern and reveal them to the team managers at their meeting on July 26.

I'll be there. If anybody is in Vegas and is up for a drink or two.. let me know.

We'll be there the weekend of the 18-19th for Nationals.

Technical delegate Daniel Falconi has decided on Stockholm for the short pattern and Athens for the medium pattern. Stockholm will be used exclusively for singles and Athens exclusively for doubles, while the trios and team events will use both patterns. I'm not sure which pattern will be used in the Masters competition.

I have also found the list of participants. Some names may be familiar, but there is one name not generally known but fairly familiar to us on this site: that would be Karmen Luksa of Slovenija, who happens to be Marko's sister.
