I have also been told the same thing by quite a few bowlers in my area that have used them. I would go with Vise if I was to go that route.

I can attest that the Vise IT is great. Other than the initial oops with one installation IT has worked out fine in both of my balls.

I just confirmed with my local pro...A lot of the switch grip thumbs are causing problems in the Regional tourneys. Go with the slug!

I've mentioned it on this site about two separate times that someone had issues with the Vise system as well. One was a PBA bowler during a tournament that had a part of the locking mechanism break during his delivery and he was forced to change balls. I was also in the Pro Shop around a month ago when a guy brought in a ball that the sleeve and mechanism had came apart somehow and he couldn't get the slug out. It was his favorite thumb and least favorite ball.

Unless you have a huge fluctuation in thumb size from day to day I don't think its really worth it. I thought about it once but find a few pieces of tape adding or removing usually is enough.
