This year Texas High School bowling condensed from 8 regions to 7. The problem we had was that we're in the Dallas West District. There are three regional tournaments within 30 minutes of us and less than 40 miles away. Unfortunately one of the Dallas Districts had to go south so that Amarillo could come to the Dallas area. We lost the draw of straws and ended up having to make the trip. I was not really looking forward to having everyone strung out up and down I35 at 5:30 in the morning. The school district agreed and gave us a bus for the trip! It's going to be hard to travel 3 1/2 hours by school bus early in the morning and bowl at noon but it beats staying at home. Good news is that we have a shot.

That's great news!!!

High school bowling is finally getting to take off here in Texas. I spend a lot of time coaching the young bowlers on the teams that play in my home house. The proprietor there has invested a lot of money and time in helping this get started, UIL is the next hurdle.

Yep it's growing in Texas. I got an email this evening about another school that wants to join our district. It's hard work at times but lots of fun for everyone. My girls finished the season in a dog fight the last match. It came down to the last ball of the 10th frame in the last bakers match. Two rival schools battling it out. They practice side by side during the week and have known each other well. People started showing up from all over the center to see the last game. Funny thing the match was at a neutral site DC West! The difference was less than 4 pins for the whole match.

The place was packed and lots of noise. Our host were fantastic! We did well and both the boys and girls are going to state. Don't recommend 3 hour bus rides but it wasn't all that bad.
