What is a good/easy way to fundraise for a collegiate program?

Thanks to iumatrix for suggesting this topic.

iumatrix-sorry bud, I just assumed that your were from Indiana (IU) and since Indiana is sponsored by Ebonite (matrix), sorry, guess this is why I am going to be a psychologist, over analyze everything.
Anyways to the question at hand, my collegiate team does several things. Our major funding comes from a bowl-a-thon. Everyone on the team goes to people they know and asks for a pledge or a straight donation. Then you go bowl a game, we wall the lanes up pretty good to ensure a high score, then we go collect our money from those who sponsored us. The second fundraiser we do is an internal one. Everyone trying out pays a fee and "x" number of dollars from that goes directly to the team. We also do ball give aways, and other smaller things. Plus it doesn't hurt to do well at a tournament or two and get some scholorship money. I have also heard that a team or two has been know to run brackets at State tournaments put the profits toward the team. Anyways, what does everyone else do?

Here's what we do... two ball raffles! Point, blank, simple. I would like to incorporate a few other ideas this year since our program in headed in the right direction. That bowl-a-thon idea sounds pretty good, hey do you live in the St. Louis area smile i'm sure if you've been there for Thanksgiving, you know exactly what i'm referring to...

Am i making myself noticeable?? The IU in iumatrix does indeed stand for Indiana Univ., and yes Ebonite International graciously grants us a sponsorship and that is where I bowl/go to school. The man behind the technical scene came up with the Matrix idea after he too saw the movie. That's why the Matrix logo incorporates the Ebonite tomahawk logo (Guess i wasn't the only one that enjoyed that movie) You know how hard it is to misread something (which i've done) since posting is only matter of words? But i know the fundraise topic is a little bit more appropriate than discussing usernames. I'm sure we could start our own topic about it though wink ...that's for anyone else to start.

When I was in college I was in a club that was always strapped for cash. We got permission to sell T-shirts outside the student union one afternoon a week. A friend of one of the other members was artistic and she made a lot of designs using the school mascot and name and other designs that were just attractive, cool, and that people would like. We also made up some shirts with slogans for whatever everyone was protesting that week. They sold well and since we had the t-shirts made at a local t-shirt printer inexpensively we had a good mark up on them. We raised all the money we needed for the year within just a 6 weeks.

iumatrix-Yeah, St. Louis is a great way to achieve a most generous donation from your donators. I think there have been a total of 20 300's the last two yrs, including the high-school/practice tournament. However, I heard that Strike n' Strike was going to be torn down for storage sheds, and the tournament was going to be moved, but I dunno. Good luck and good kegeling to all.
