My daughter just started her youth league this morning. They'll bowl 18 weeks, every other Saturday. That's cool, but they did NOT sanction with YABA. Instead, they're paying $6.00 to sanction (?) with the North American Bowling Association.

Does anyone have any info on this affiliation? Thanks.

I never heard of NABA. Could you mean The National Bowling Association, Inc.(TNBA)?

The TNBA was founded in 1939, was operated by African Americans, and was primarily for African Americans. It's now open to all. They have a good number of leagues that are sanctioned through them.

NABA just got a write-up in this months Bowlers Journal. It is an alternative national organization, headed by a couple of marketing pros. Information is real thin, I can't find web site for them.

They are sanctioning both adult and youth leagues. While the article makes it sound like they were not going to be competeing with ABC/WIBC/YABA, your case proves different.

My suggestion is that you get your child out of the NABA league, and move to a YABA house. As a NABA member, your child will not be eligable for Coke, National Gold, and other YABA tournaments and there is no sign about a crediable coaching program.

Anyone coming accross information about this threat to the bowling community, please share it.
