I went to a tournament yesterday, and I bowled decent, but not up to the standards I wanted to. I'm still not in the money, and I was too inconsitant on a shot that was speed sensitive. However, one good thing that came out is I converted the 7-10 split. I left a pocket 7-10, said oh well. I picked up my ball, aimed at the 7 pin, and hit it on the left. It went right and the butt end came out the pit to hit the 10. My friend said that was big b/c we were in an AMF house. He said its harder to bounce pins out of the pit in them. It didnt matter, I still couldnt believe I made it. Atleast I left with one thing positive from the whole day.

WOW, great! You should get a patch or award for it. Most tournaments are sanctioned and if so then it gets recorded in the history books forever.

Cool. Well done, indeed. Even if you don't get an award for it, those that saw it will always remember and word has a way of getting around that you cleared a 7 - 10 at that tournament. It gives the rest of us hope, as well.
Keep knockin' them down, Mkee. congratulations.

Congrats on the nice conversion. Even better that you will get recognized for it.

Congratulations! Picking up the 7-10 is an accomplishment that not a whole lot of bowlers can say they've done, so welcome to the elite class of bowling. I've picked it up twice, both in AMF houses.

They key for the best chance at picking up a 7-10 in an AMF house is to throw hard at the outer half of the pin that's opposite the ball return, i.e., if you're on an odd lane, throw at the 7 and if you're on an even lane, throw at the 10. This is because the pit cushions on AMF machines are angled back towards the ball return side of the machines by 8 inches or so, which increase the chance of a good carom over to the opposite side. It also depends on how lively the cushions are (I used to keep mine pretty tight) as well as if the pin curtain is tight and high, too.

Nice Job...

I have been bowling for over 25 years and that is something I still have not done. Way to go!
