I grew up in Detroit, and have bowled the "Hamtramick Classic" on several occasions... that being said, I'm speaking from experiences of about a dozen years ago;
- lane conditions (were) always tough
- whichever squad, lanes (were) always very oily
- it's a small, two story house with wood lanes
- ball return is 'above ground' (likely due to the sets of lanes on the second floor)
- strikes are usually a gift; make all your spares
- advise bringing your 'full arsenal' and "B" game
- time allows, the bar has good burgers and beer

Hope this helps you out a bit, and gets to you in time for the tournament,
