Yesterday I spent a majority of my class working on my release. I onlyhad my Scout Reactive with me and I wasn't expected as much oil on the lanes as there was. I did manage some preety decent and good scores though. 173, 213, 170, 163, 195. The lower games were mostly because I'm not used to throwing my reactive balls at my spares anymore.

Threw some practice shots today in prep for league starting.

180
195
176
190
205

Well oiled synthetic is a lot more predictable and consistent than patchy dry wood lanes. Its amazing how much energy my psycho stores for the backend dry area when it slides effortlessly through the heads and midlane.

Ian, what did you practice? Seems you need to practice targeting and spare shooting. Forget the scores. In fact, practice with the scores off. If you aim at the second arrow, make sure you can hit it. That is more important than a practice score.

Well depending on the lane condition when im practicing determines on what im trying. lately the lanes have either been really dry or really wet. not the standard house shot during league. i get lucky every once in a while and can just hit my mark like in league and work from there. lately its been useing as much of the oil in the middle to stop it from hooking to the gutter.

so pretty much ive just been tring to make it in the pocket and hitting broklyn so much. what are some ways to practice spares?

went in for some practice today now that my back isn't hurting as much anymore and shot very well for what i was working on. 244 for the first game with an open frame. then went 170 something because i couldn't carry. left a crush 7 pin, pocket 9, and of course several ten pins which i missed one because i decided to accidentally crush my left ankle. and the last game fooled around a little bit practicing thumbless and shot 180 something. all in all i shot 598 which is a few pins above average so that's still half way decent.

it really shouldn't matter as long as you get lined up because the lanes are always going to be different no matter what. even in league play. you just have to learn to adjust to it and go from there. your release and everything should remain the same always unless of course you're practicing different ways of releasing the ball

CoachJim suggested an exercise when practising. Stand on 15 and roll until you can get a turkey, Then move 5 boards and roll until you get another turkey. Keep doing this across the lane until you can master all of the angles.

I'm not joining a summer league. I'm pretty big into jet skis and that takes up a lot of summer time. I went and practiced yesterday and it was just horrible. So maybe some time off will get me back excited for it too.
