Hey Erin, I gotta tell you,I've never had an easier time picking up 10 pins. No matter how much I kill the ball there is always going to be those times when it decides to turn left. NOT AT THE NATIONALS! Once your past 10 it was like a sheet of ice.If my house shot was like that my 10 pin percentage would go up. Oh, by the way, you're right about the higher avg. bowlers. While some were able to conquer the great flood, others were walking away talking to themselves. I think maybe they should change the name to ,"THE GREAT EQUALIZER!!" (ha-ha)....Rusty

I love the Nationals exactly for the reasons mentioned above - It is a shot makers paradise, and if you can't execute the shot consistently, you will suffer for it.

There is/has and hopefully always will be an Out of Bounds, which is great, as it forces you to play repeatable shots. I've lost count of the times the "grip it and rip it" merchants walk away with their heads held down, wondering why their "stand left, throw right" approach which works fine on their house shot doesn't work at the nationals.

For want of a better phrase, they're cannon fodder for the brackets smile

We always go into the bowling area early to watch where the line is. We watch to see where those that are striking and keeping the ball inplay are breakpointing.

But while doing this, its always disturbingly amusing to watch all the head shaking, shoulder slumping and arm expressions of disbelief. Of course its always easier to see when you are not actually doing it. :-) But you are right Robert, many of the stand left, throw right guys are clueless when their balls sail into the gutter.

Erin

"OLD SCHOOL BOWLING! I LOVE IT!" "many of the stand left, throw right guys are clueless when their balls sail into the gutter"

Ya, I HAVE to get back to the ABC Nationals. These clueless wonders (that think they're talented) crack me up on today's house conditions. I'll bet it's hiliarious to watch these clowns bowl on a REAL shot, where accuracy skill and knowledge are emphasized!

Airline ticket to nationals, $500
Food, hotel, and entertainment, $487
The cost of watching clueless wonders struggle with their game - PRICELESS!

You got raped on that $500 plane ticket my friend, hope it was first class. Anyways, I'll be bowling there on June 15,16,17, going as a sub so only can win the brackets. I currently avergae 200 but my yearbook is like 190, so hopefully I can shot 600+ thru all events.

Robert,

It was nice bowling with you too. And I didn't forget about the videos... gonna email them to you when I get a chance. Most likely towards the end of this week.

The worst I ever paid was for Billings, when it cost me nearly $1,500 and was a 24 hour trip (2 changes of plane and countless hours in airport lounges).

Oh yeah, for what it's worth, First Class from the UK will be around the $12,000 mark !!! seeingstars

Cost aside, I love the event, and certainly enjoy the company of the Yanks who put up with me for the week I'm there laugh - I've got some very good friends over that side of the pond, and all things being equal, will keep coming back for many years to come.

Good luck with the bowling. 1800+ for AE is good shooting, and worth a reasonable cheque at the end. If you shoot more than 570 per set, you'll cash in the brackets too.

As for the accent, it's our language, you guys just stole it and made it sound funny wink We talk just fine thankyouverymuch laugh
