Thinking of bowling Sports/Pbax League Monday morning in summer. Got my work schedule changed recently to working grave yard so i either got to bowl mornings or bowl on my nights off from work.

im joining a PBA shot league that includes Robert Smith, expecting about 30 members, we bowl on shark, cheetah, and viper, singles and match play for 13 weeks, never tried it so it should be fun

any tips for a first timer to this?

clt2244, if this is your first time on PBA, treat it as a learning experience. Learn to read what the lane gives you. Learn how to roll the ball freely and without any muscle. Learn to play angles cause each one is different. Learn your equipment because some will work and others will not on certain patterns. If they give you the pattern oil spread, learn how to read it, and understand how it is laid. Keep notes that you can refer back to for the next time you bowl on the same pattern. Learn to pick up spares.

If there is an instructor in the group, ask questions on how you can improve. The better leagues provide instruction.

Be open minded to accept recommendations. Group discussion helps.

Don't try to force the shot. Be humble and enjoy.

Don't try to play the same line as Smith grin

Have fun. Use plastic for spares. Concentrate on making good shots frame after frame.

I am so glad that this season is winding down. I simply just stunk for most of the season, and there is really no excuse for it. My average dropped about 15 pins this year, and my problem for the most part is mental. I am just trying way to hard and not focusing on JUST the shot at hand, but a bevy of things all at once. Arm swing, ball speed, balance, don't muscle etc...its just ridiculous. So this summer I am really going to work at, practice, practice, practice...see my coach several times and just get my head straight, and get some good habits engrained into my muscle memory....then tear it up next year...LOL.

Score-wise this season was very draining and I can't wait for it to be over. Technique-wise, it was one of the best I've ever had...out of...only...two..seasons. I'm not sure if this a summer league goals thread but here's mine.

I'd like to get a few things over the summer that would help my game tremendously, such as:
1.Two Hy-Roads
2.Right-Handed shoes w/ interchangable soles and heels
3.Money to get said equipment and possibly a coach
4.A better job to to get aforementioned money
5.A 4 ball bag
6.An Armadillo or Pro-Sect to layout my balls
Now and more importantly things to improve my technique
7.Get my release fixed, stregthened and possibly start adjusting and tweaking it to increase versatility
8.Improve single pin conversions to 90% and multi-pin conversions to 85%
9.Have a completely free swing w/ the swinging-hinge, swing slot, deep knee bend and strong release.
10.Prove to my one teammate that I can bowl at a 195-200 average
11.Since I'll be bowling in the anchor spot, maintain my composure, put on the pressure and again prove that I can bowl there.
