Hi Sk8Shorty01 and Lefty,

Thanks for the very easy-to-understand and informative info on your leagues, and match-play leagues, in general. Both of your leagues sound really, really good and a lot of fun, and competitive. Everything sounds real well thought out. I'm the league statistician and website maintainer for our duckpin league, the White Oak Majors, located at www.mmstl.com (and also at www.worldleagues.net). It's a competitive league, although we don't use the match point system. I also have bowled tenpins and was going to try to join/start a league this coming fall. But, with all the good stuff you've told me, there's no reason why I can't suggest the match point system to our duckpin league, and maybe we could adopt that format for the upcoming season. After thinking about it, that type of format might control the sandbagging a little better.

If anybody's interested, and wouldn't mind taking a look at either of these websites mentioned above, it would be helpful to me to get some comments on how to improve the website. I do a pretty good amount of work with the data entry to get the site updated by the following morning, and I'm sure there are areas that could be expanded upon.

Again, thanks for all the great info, everybody.

I have a question about the Match Play system. Are teams allowed to switch their lineups from one game to the next, or do you just go with one lineup for the entire night?

Also, you mentioned 1 point for high game...is that high team game for a night, or high individual game for the night, between the 2 teams?

Thanks for the info.

no lineup changes once you set them for the night. Some leagues have the team higher in the standings set their lineup first, some do it odd lane or even lane, there is usually some way to have it set up.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to be bowling in my league tonight (Thursday) and I'll be mentioning the match point league idea to them for the upcoming season. One thing I need to get a handle on is...the part about an additional point or points that may be won for the "High Game in the Match".

I have two questions.

First, is this the High Individual Game, or the High Team Game in the match?

Second, what happens if there's a 2-way, or even a 3-way tie for the high game in match? Does each team get an additional point for this, or are the points somehow divided? I was just thinking that if Team 1 bowled an 890 game in Game 1, and then Team 2 bowled 890 in Game 2, each team would have the same high game. Or if the high game is based on Individual High Game, what if 2 of the bowlers on a team had something like a 279 in Games 1 and 3, and then a bowler on the other team had a 279 in Game 2?

I guess I'm still a total novice on this concept of competitive bowling, and before I suggest it to our league, I'd better be armed with all the facts.

Thanks in advance.
