Yesterday I bowled a 156 avg across 20 games practice.

I pretended to bowl a series of 3 games in practice

209 - 167 - 192 = 568

Best pretend series Ive ever bowled :P

Catching up.
Sunday afternoon - 612. Had a tough third game with two pocket splits (7-10 and 6-8).

Sunday night - 675. Had a clean first game with a 195, then finally caught some heat on my strike ball to finish pretty decent.

Monday night - 653. OK here. Leftside lane was BONE dry, went to my back up ball there, and my regular ball on the rightside lane. Proud of the adjustments throughout even though the final scores were only decent, not fantastic.

Continuing to work through my 7 pin leave slump, and making good headway there. Additionally focusing this coming weekend to starting off strong. I have been a bit erratic in the first game of every series. Focusing on "focus" and staying down early...

Good luck to all. Vic.

I got into an 8 game tournament, 8 games over 4 lanes handicapped. I started with a 138 out of the gate. Awesome! Coming in with a 218 average I get exactly 1 pin handicap. Everything I tried I chooped spares and left splits. Then I went 201-240-181-211-191-221-202 for a 197 average. The lanes were dry. Everything of my hand went left. It's only an 8 lane house and my first time bowling there but at least I have an idea what that place is about for future tourneys. Maybe next time I should try not throwing my chances away right out of the gate? That was too big of a hole to climb out of.

Ian, all you have to do for a 200 is get a strike or a double (I can't remember) and pick up all of your spares. Additionally, "No tap" is a game variant where 9 counts count as strikes. So if you leave a bunch ten pins or the like you'll get a strike instead of 9 and potential spare leave. Lastly, it sounds like you are having a little trouble reading the lanes. And while it does take some time to develop that skill, I'll give you something that should help you out a ton. If you miss left, move left and if you miss right, move right.

As far as my bowling scores go, all low 500 series. I think on Wed. I threw 540 or somthing but not the big success sets I've been posting recently. It's mostly because I've been leaving more splits than usual and that combined with missing too many easy spares doesn't usually yield high scores. Oh well, I guess everyone has an off week. On the upside, I'm generating more power with my lower body or at least trying to, and I found out that I can wait on my swing and let gravity do more of the work (meaning it is getting freer). thumbsup So I'm rather happy about that. I need to work on my spare shooting, staying behind the ball, not charging the line and staying balanced and low at the line more.

Your totaly right
My Pro Shop guy was telling me all it is is a double and allspares and thats at least a 200 game.
everyone at league keeps telling me i need to bowl with my thumb
Personaly im hitting my stikes with my 2 finger cranking. but maybe thier right. ive been hitting 3-4 strikes in a row open open than another double, ive even hit a 6-pac and only scored a 196 so i guess my game flaw is in my spares. you know alot of people can get coached and learn to pickem up, i dont want to change my bowling style but there just isnt enough two finger crankers out there to pick from to have as a coach .
i think i might have to start learning to bowl with my thumb??????

And to your ending response about balance and low at the line. me myself im not to low of a bowler but just practicing my form and balance has been a huge factor in my consistency!! Does getting lower really help or is that a prefernce????

I just noticed that tuesday and thursday leagues in different houses with different shots and playing 2 totally different lines, my scores were eerily similiar.

Tuesday- 205-183-222=610
Thursday- 201-184-224=609

I think that is the closest I have ever been to consistent.

Interesting day at practice Saturday, dry lanes but still managed a 600 series by shooting 3 200 games. (My first triplicate.)

Today was even more interesting and fun working with my wife on some of her issues with her form. Didn't keep score except for the last two games. Shot a 212 & 230, so not too bad for me. On a very positive note, my wife shot her two highest scores so far with a 155 & 162. All in all it was a good day.
