(2) 299s in a series. Great series but that sucks.

When I read his series, I knew there had to be some big scores. Then I saw back to back 299's. Damn, I got one of those this year, and it leaves a bitter feeling and taste in your mouth. You replay, and replay that last ball a dozen times as how it could have been different. then to do it again, is just inconceivable.

http://www.bowl.com/articleView.aspx?i=15660&f=1Bo Goergen, as it turns out, is a teammate of USBC Masters champion John Nolen, who made his last Open Championships appearance before he becomes PBA Tour exempt. Nolen had a 703 bowling for Northern Lanes Pro Shop of Sanford, MI, helping that team to ninth place in Regular Team, then followed up with 651 in doubles and 685 in singles for a career-best 2,039 all-events total. Northern Lanes Pro Shop is now third in Team All-Events with 10,116.

http://www.bowl.com/articleView.aspx?i=15676&f=120 year old Joe Hostetler of Minerva, OH arrived later than expected at the Cashman Center on Wednesday, needed to find a collared shirt to compete in, and then had 2 near falls in the second frame of his first game of team that caused him to foul each time for a 0 frame. He rebounded from that with 6 strikes for a 202, then battled a lower back strain caused by his double foul to record the 25th perfect game of the tournament. He added a 227 for a 729 set in team, then came back with a 716 in doubles and a 711 in singles for a 2,156 all-events score, good for 6th place in Regular All-Events. Hostetler was only the third bowler in the tournament to post 3 sets of 700 or better.

I have seen him bowl in local tournaments in person, and he is a very solid bowler. Kudos.

http://www.bowl.com/articleView.aspx?i=15682&f=129 year old Eric McIver of Des Moines, WA rolled the 26th 300 game of the tournament Friday in his last game of doubles. McIver started bowling in a league in September that uses lane conditions similar to those found on the nationals lanes in recent years, so that was proof that preparation does indeed pay off.

http://www.bowl.com/articleView.aspx?i=15687&f=130 year old Lee Vanderhoef of Greenville, SC posted the 27th 300 game of the tournament yesterday. Vanderhoef kept the mood light during his quest for perfection by joking around with 2007 USBC Queens champion Kelly Kulick, whom he's had a 10-year friendship with.

Had a fairly busy weekend, so this is getting everyone caught up on tournament news... http://www.bowl.com/articleView.aspx?i=15720&f=1Terry Rohrer of Ft. Wayne, IN watched his teammate Frank Testa of Akron, OH, post the 28th 300 game of this year's USBC Open in the team event, then added one of his own in singles. http://www.bowl.com/articleView.aspx?i=15719&f=1Brenda Edwards (776) and Stephen Padilla (790) of Mansfield, TX broke the USBC Open doubles record previously held by Jonathan Masur (West Orange, NJ) and Jeffrey Butler (Garfield, NJ) with a 1,566 (previous record, 1,544, was set at the National Bowling Stadium two years ago). Edwards, the sister of Team USA head coach Jeri Edwards, then added a 300 third game of singles, the 30th of the tournament.

Weds the girlfriend and I plus 9 other bowlers put together from my local lanes are heading out for Vegas. I'm still trying to decide how many balls to bring:
1)Either the 3 ball roller loaded with 2 balls to keep it under 50lbs plus my 2 ball tote as a carry on for a total of 4. 2)3 ball roller and call it a day despite the extra weight/cost.
I'm bringing the Cell Pearl and I just had the original Cell punched up for the trip. I threw a few games and it was nothing short of vicious on the back end. The spare ball is a must and if I go with 4 balls I'll bring something a bit more tame like my Paradigm for when the lanes break down. This is my first trip out there so Im not expecting much other than enjoying the experience, getting out of PA and giving it my best.
