I think I am a bit behind here...
Really only have 3 balls, and only 2 used currently.
Bought the "retired ball" 10 years ago when my old, old ball cracked.
Then bought the Widow last year, and the NVD two months ago.

And that's it. I try to adjust more to the conditions than switching out balls as a rule.

Call me a dinosaur.
Cheers to all!

Vic44, you're not a dinosaur. You're left handed, and your balls don't get as much lane abuse. They last longer.

I usually get a ball a year, usually to replace a ball that just lost its punch.

I never really thought about how many I'v bought in my 5 yrs. or so back in the game..just for fun..I have had

Columbia Hyde..my first ball, I still have it has a cracked bridge

Columbia Bully...cracked, threw it out

Columbia Detour..won it in a raffle..first 300 with it, gave it to high school bowler

Columbia Wrath..still have it, second 300 with it

Storm Screaming Banshee..still have it

Ebonite One...hated that ball..gave it to a high school bowler

Roto Grip SD-73 Classic.. still have

Roto Grip Mystic..still have

Roto Grip Saturn..great milder ball..still have

Hammer Black Widow Bite..still have, although lost some of its punch

LaneMasters Sting ..great ball still have

11 balls..never really thought about it. Thats quite a chunk of change smirk

Good point Dennis... that is very true. I also try very hard towards keeping my balls clean throughout the game, after the series. Have to go find a different link however regarding ball cleaning, got a comment/searching opinion.

Last year I bought... five bowling balls and was given one. I gave away five of them. This year I might buy one or two.

Hahah, this is a fun topic... For the last 2 months, i've gotten a new ball about every two weeks. Before that I averaged probably 7 balls a season.. Haha, here's what I have now, and I won't even include the ones I don't use..

league arsenal

Morich seek and destroy
storm t road pearl
roto grip odyssey
roto grip cell
hammer venom
maxim spareball

tournament stuff

hammer psycho
another roto grip cell
roto grip horizon solid
storm hy road
storm gravity shift
storm street rod pearl
ebonite NVS
columbia jazz
ebonite the magic

annd i'll be ordering a virtual gravity, already ordered a roto grip mars, probably gonna get another psycho, and potentially a ebonite one pearl and playmaker. I get a discount, and it only lasts for the year so I'm just takin' advantage haha.

I figure once I get my arsenal set this year I'll probably be set for a few years.

Satyuros, despite your discount you said you get, how on earth do you afford that many balls that frequently? I thought I splurged on my equipment, but you seem to scoop up virtually everything that hits the shelves compared to me. though my arsenal feels fair for now, though I would always like to have some new stuff to fiddle with

Lessee....I bought the 2 Lanemasters' pieces at nationals last year. I bought 2 Bunswicks's on line last year, but didn't punch them until just recently. I did replace an unpredictable spare ball...who needs an unpredictable spare ball? I had a WD that was flaring. Not a problem per se, except that it would sometimes hook (a little) and sometimes not. I guess I am a bit of an EQ junkie...

Hmmmm...Well I bought a black widow bite about a year ago....A black widow venom about half a year ago. I really didn't like the venom, so I'm back to the bite. Before the bite I think the last ball I had was a vortex something or other probably close to 4 years ago.

So, I usually use a ball until I cannot make it perform. I can tell the bite is losing quite a bit of reaction, so I have to adapt to it, and change my throw. And because of that, over the years, I have learned much more about how to throw on different lane conditions. For example, if I toss my bite on a low-medium house shot it's going to go through the heads. Now instead of going out and buying the newest low-medium oil ball, I just change up my throw. Works like a charm.
