I've just received word that [censored] Weber passed away Sunday in his sleep.

I will post more details as I get them.

The PBA's story is posted here.

There has never been a better ambassador for bowling, nor a kinder gentleman involved in our sport.

I was lucky to be assigned to [censored] Weber's lane in a ProAM and will always remember that day. He was such a great guy and not an egotistical j erk like a lot of today's PBA Champs. The sport needs more professionals like him!
All the best,
Steve Mermelstein

[censored] Webber was a good and close friend, of Bill Lillard. Bill, [censored], and Don Carter bowled on the old Budweiser team, where they nailed down not only championships, but secured their places in the hall of fame.

Bill Lillard and Pete Trybig are dear friends of mine and co-owners of the Tropicana Bowl Corporation. I was with them this morning when the call came in. [censored] died in his bed around 3AM this morning. Bill is understandably distraught at the loss of his lifetime friend, as we all are over the loss to our sport.

[censored] was, and will, always be remembered as the gentleman's, gentleman of bowling, and the greatest ambassador the sport has ever had.

He will be sorely missed by his friends and fans alike.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family, and those lucky enough to have had him in their lives.

Another tribute is at

My only experience meeting [censored] Weber was over 15 years ago at a center grand opening. He was one of the featured guests, and was visiting with bowlers on each pair.

He saw us teasing another bowler (with an approach that literally resembled a sloth), and when he came down to our pair, he yelled, "Great shot, Sloth, errrr, Scott!" He put a group of new bowlers completely at ease, and I've never forgotten the experience.

To the family of one of the greatest bowlers I have
seen compete on TV. I am bowling joel aka joel. I
have been following the pba since the days of old
when bowling was bowling. When the pba first came on
TV until present times. [censored] Weber was a treat to
watch and he will be sorely missed. God bless him
for giving so much pleasure to all of us bowling
fans. Also we have Pete Weber to carry on for him.
I myself will never forget Mr. [censored] Weber aka Mr.
bowling. Bowling joel
