So, too, in this case, it is also acceptable to say, "nice balls!" nelson

Well thanks for giving me a nice project to kill the rest of the winter, and more importantly, a reason to buy more balls to make the rack practical. Bowling is quickly going to become more than a new hobby.

I think if you know the right people you could make a few bucks building and selling them. I'm not quite sure how popular bowling is where you are.

My bowling balls are sitting in bags or on an old entertainment center that I turned into a storage table. Of course I need to find a way to get ride of the bulk of them as I don't use the lighter balls anymore.

I don't keep too many older balls, but that rack is a nice idea. My older balls are painted and now serve as gazing balls in my garden.

Here are some pics of my ball rack. From end to end, it is 42" and 24" tall. The sides are 2 x 12s. The pipe is about 44" long. There is a pic of the thread on the inside to make sure that the sides don't shift in. From the bottom of the bottom rail to the floor and from the top of the top rail to the top of the wood is 5 1/2".

That is pretty impressive. I could't do that here in Chicago unless my garage was heated. Even though St. Louis is only 4.5 hours south, the temp difference down there is huge. On top of that, I think my wife would kill me if I stuck something like that in our garage. She complains enough about the 8 ball rack that I have even though it is in my office and her ball sits on it.

Where are you at in St. Louis? I have a bunch of friends in that area who bowl on the Illinois side and the Missouri side.

Awesome! I don't know if I really need one of those yet, but it's great for future references.

I am just west of St. Louis in St. Louis County (Wildwood). My garage isn't heated but stays warm. It is well insulated and the rack is against a wall that is shared by the dining room. I have never had one crack in the garage, but a few inside just sitting around (go figure). Unfortunately for the bowling balls, I'll be moving into a house this summer that will have temperature problems in the garage. So not sure what I am going to do about that yet. Its nice keeping the balls in the garage instead of lugging them in and out of the house.

I had a ball crack in my basement a few years ago. Though it may have had something to do with me slamming it to the ground to relieve some frustration/anger. The old Aftershock did not like impact with concrete. The concrete was unaffected.
