Do you mean Wrist bands or wrist braces?

IF it's that braces, it is my understanding that they are used to help keep one's wrist in place. It is a good training tool, but has found its way into becoming a neccessary bowling accessory. I've had mine on for the past couple of weeks to help get my wrist into the position that I want it to, I think I'm going to bowl without it this week, mostly because I think the muscle memory is now established.

Also if your wrist can't handle the position you like and the ball weight that you have, a brace get help support the weight of the ball as well.

As for wrist bands, if you want to wear them I suppose you could. You'd look like a tennis player bowing to me. But whatever floats your boat. grin

As for your elbow, I don't know. I know there is a band you can put around your arm just before your elbow. It is supposed to lessen the strain on your elbow. It might help you out with your injury or pain, but most people I see use it, use it to help compensate for their muscled swing.

I've seen a couple people in the center I bowl at using braces for their elbows. I'm not sure what brand they are, but it looks like a Robby's Band-It. From what I hear it basically acts like a shock absorber to reduce strain.

I use a wrist brace that is just a wrist band in appearance. The pressure around the wrist helps add strength to my injured wrist. I would not last 1 game without it.

I hope I never have to use one of the big wrist braces that lock your hand and wrist into a position. I always hated them as I cup the ball in my back swing and they don't allow that motion.

There is an elbow band that you can wear just below the elbow. It gives support for tendonitis or tennis elbow.

Also, most pharmacies sell an elastic elbow wrap that also gives support.

I have a somewhat related question. A customer asked me if a wrist brace would help her, she said she has calcium deposits in her forearm and after a game or so her forearm swells and becomes sore. I am not sure if a brace would help by keeping her forearm muscles / tendons supported, or if it would make things worse from the added pressure of the brace if she was to swell.

I think some sort of sleeve support would be better tenpin. Similar to the under armor sleeves they make for basketball players for support. I think anything that was flexible but has a glove like fit would be her best bet to subside some of the pain.

I had issues with tennis elbow for a while (not from bowling but from cycling) and found some Tennis Elbow Rehab Exercises that just about cured the tennis elbow in two weeks. I no longer need to wear an elbow brace.
