They posted the lane condition data for the tournament today. It's a 40 ft. pattern. Lane condition details: http://tinyurl.com/c5o49mTape data: http://tinyurl.com/d5b2fu

Thanks for posting those. Can someone explain what the tape data is?

The tape data is based on the lane tapes that the USBC uses to certify the lanes. Atochabsh, who works for her local association and has had to work on the crews that certify bowling centers in her area, could probably better explain it. The first link in my post is of greater importance to most bowlers, however.

The tape data shows the heaviest concentration of oil at various distances down the lane. It shows the oil is spread from 4 board to 4 board. The heaviest oil is at 8 ft, and lessens to 38 feet. These tapes are taken on each lane to prove that the oil laid down complies with the spread pattern.
Note: There are 50u of oil laid down. That's about double a House shot.
Pattern looks similar to last year. The back end was playable.

It depends a lot on your equipment, too. My shot was over 10 straight up with high reactive equipment that had a dulled cover. A little too much speed left you light. Then, the problem was crossing the center flood for spares. Saw lots of cherries and missed 7's, from the right.

You hit on it. Spares are the key. depending on the squad time cross lane spares can be an adventure. Unfortunately I have the hell squads 8:30 and 11;30 pm

I have those squads too. Not the best in the World. I really don't mind the 8:30pm team slot but the 11:30pm D/S really sucks. A nice mid-day nap is going to have to do it for me. My flight out is at 9:10 the next day. No sleep for me that night.
