Last Tuesday, I was really struggling with all aspects of my game. My league average is 210. With my baseline ball, I shot 170, 130, and with nothing to lose, I switched to my plastic ball, moving outside of 5 and pointed it to the pocket, shooting a 241.

I got a good laugh from my teammates for being bold enough for switching to plastic.

I had quite a swing last week, going from a 157 in the second game to my 257 last game, a full 100-pin differential. I didn't really do anything special, either; I had only moved a couple of boards out toward the end of the second game, and it all came together from there.

I have never had more than than about a 70 pin difference. the biggest difference I ever saw was a guy who flirted with a 300 and shot 279 then turned around and shot 133. He threw a extreme hook ball and after that first game he never found a spot again. He didn't even come close to a 600 series.

just a note on him, he throws it up about the 5 board (he is righty) but slow, so it hooks out of the house. He has many a time thrown it out to the 1 board, and it comes back and goes jersey and hits the 6 pin. A ton of his strikes are jersey, he is somewhat learning disabled and doesn't listen when you try to help him. He is a horrible spare shooter, but when he is on, he is ON! I try to get him to move left but its futile.

AK, I believe a Jersey shot is what a people in Brooklyn and possibly other parts of New York call a Brooklyn shot.

Yessiree, I've bowled with a guy that still finds it strange to hear someone call in Brooklyn since he lived and bowled there for a while. He has also lived in Baltimore for at least 6 years now.

When I lived in NJ a cross over was a Brooklyn. Now that I live in PA they call it a Jersey. Me? I call it missing my mark by a lot and getting lucky.

My biggest pin differential was 300 to 161. In my defense my leg was broken at the time but I didn't get the MRI results until the following day.

I don't hear the term Jersey around here, (Chicago area). Brooklyn is common, but mostly crossover.

Tonight, a bowler had 2-180 games and finished with a 300. The tenth ball was through the nose kicking out a 6 on one side and the 7 fell on the other. People yelled for his good luck. then the 12th ball, he lost it and it crossed over for a strike. It was his first game he ever bowled with his new Hot Sauce.

Afterward, he said he was really nervous.

He had bowled 5 straight 700's, and tonight only had a 660 with the 300.
