Stink,Stank, Stunk. That's how my night went. Nothing like being the only member of your 5 person team to be there for league. Two bowlers pre-bowled, a third tried to pre-bowl when she found out she had something to do tonight that she originally thought was Friday night but by the time she could get there she couldn't get any lanes and the fourth is still out from an accident at work in mid January. The only reason I stayed after the first game was to keep a legal line up.

Practice things started out good, with a nice smooth swing and release and the first game started out ok. Frames 1 and 3 were split opens, 3-10 and 2-7 respectfully from bad releases. I started marking and then in the ninth I left a 10 and yanked the ball at release to miss a half a board inside. I then struck and left another 10 pin and the ball fell into the gutter inches before it could make contact for a 157 game. We loss this game big time considering the two bowlers that pre-bowled were well under average as well.

Second game I started suitcasing the ball I think. Really bad reaction and release. Half way through I just kind of gave up and ended the game with a 147, but we win this game, since both pre-bowls were much better.

Third game I'm just trying to make contact with the headpin, with a suitcase style delivery off the corner but around not really caring. I made most of the spares this game. I didn't use a system but rather grabbed my ball of the rack and started my approach before I even had my fingers in the ball and flung it down the lane. Then around the sixth frame I tried to go back to a normal release on strike shots but with an approach similar to what I just mentioned about spares and got a good reaction, hit the pocket, struck twice in the second and a 9 count for a 170 and we win this game but lose total by around 20 for a split.

Other issues on the night was heel down first going into the slide and my knee is telling me all about that, early timing, early rotating, late timing, late or no rotating, jerking and yanking at the release, missing left due to that, really late releases at time, and the list can continue.

190-219-174 = 583

Not a bad start with good games but 3rd I tired to made another 200 for 600 series, but it failed. I will plan to get a new ball this week possible.

Time for me to join in again smile

The season is three weeks old for me, our old Trios League has folded so I am bowling doubles this year with a make-up partner and we're having some fun. The lanes are awful, the approaches are sticky so I have been just wandering to the line and delivering "from the hip" using my plastic ball with the Big Blue for 7 pin spares.
So far series of 545, 585 and 583, high game 213, low 179. I have probably wrecked my chances by bowling so high in the first three weeks (190 av) LOL.
My partner (a Canadian import) throws a plastic right up the middle of the lane and has been scoring well, particularly tonight, averaging 144 for the first two weeks, threw a mighty 165 average tonight and pulled us through for all the points smile Great fun!
Good to see the regulars still here and bowling is happening to everyone smile . Good luck to all.

Cheers,
Allan

Hi Allan. Good to hear from you. Good start to the season. Keep it up.

Guess your lane troubles are the norm for you. Just gotta fight through it.

BTW, I often have an Imported Canadian on a Sunday evening. But, on the rocks.

Well talk about an off night... 164, 164, 202. I was throwing The Bounty, it's not a bad ball. Though it's going to take some getting used to. No triplicate for me, and we lost all four points. Not good as we'll probably be in 3rd next week... Oh yeah, how's this for a downer? We were pretty close every game, and if not for me we would have won at least the 3rd game. Here's the 7th frame on for me, X 9/ X X X -. Freakin gutter on my fill ball, which we lost the game by two stinking pins!
