Also, it is a pride thing for me, in one of my leagues in particular there is a number of people who think they should strike on every shot, average 210+ who have no business averaging that at all, and have no spare-shooting skills to speak of. I have never seen so many high average bowlers be so bad at shooting spares, a lot of which are makeable.

I know in the long run I will beat them more often than not by making my spares and taking my strikes too when I get them and watching them crumble when they leave back-to-back ringing 10s.

I agree completely. I take a lot of pride in my spare shooting. I practice shooting spares more often than I practice throwing strikes. I want to make them when they are up there, but the thing I want to do 36 times a night is put the ball in the pocket and give myself a chance to strike. Shooting at single pins all night keeps you calm and collected, making the game easier on yourself. Shooting at clusters of pins every other frame makes the game very stressful, which can in turn mess up your first ball as well. You start pressing for strikes rather than just letting the ball flow. I rarely miss single pins, about 92% on bowlsk for the season, but I think the strongest point of my game is that I never give away the pocket. I am like 98% in the pocket, and that means rarely do I have to shoot anything more than a single pin.

My Week 23 bowling (BowlSK).

Very sloppy bowling for two games, but the last one was a thing of beauty, with the front seven on the way to a 257, my high on the season (only mistake was on the fill of the 10th...9-miss on a strike), which saved an over-average night. The big third game couldn't prevent my team from getting swept, though, so it was all bittersweet.

Well, I started with a ball that just didn't work. I changed to a second ball that didn't work either. A 130 with 4 splits and 2 cherries. The balls just wouldn't finish with the oil on the lanes. At the urging of a teammate, I switched to my Terminator, which I haven't used for a few weeks. Things came back after a few frames to finish with 203 in the second. And 224 in the third for a series of 557.

I guess you have to match the ball to the lanes.

We won 5 of seven points. Losing the second game by 2 pins.

Gotta give my teammate credit for something. In the second game, second frame he took a video with his cell phone of me bowling from behind. That is when I noticed that I was walking straight, and pushing the ball out. The very next ball, I walked toward my target, and the night went much better.

subbed for a friend on the 630 sctrach Trio earlier. 9pm so lanes are always broken in. Was having some carry issues, the other 2 guys playing near my line was having carry issues as well no matter how well it looked. Shot a 225 first game, second game I had alot of carry issues in the back row and left a split open near the end for a 194. Next game I tried playing inside on the 9-10 break and got a bit more power into the pocket with more carry, shot a 224 on the 3rd game. 4th game I was pretty lined up but still worried about carry. I shot the fron 8 then solid 10pin on the 9th and finished up for a 279. Iduno why I couldn't get carry like that earlier.

So 225,194,224,279 for a 922. My ave for subbing there is 222 so I was +34 for the night.

Oh and I had bowled tonight with my Lane#1 Evo that replaced my Venom in the bag. Never really like pearl balls but I guess this one can stay. I had knocked the shine off to 2000 grit in the summer and it's been sitting in the garage since LOL. It was breaking on the same line as my Kinetic but not as much angle into the pocket like the Kinetic rolls.

Not a bad night, just kind of let the lane get away the last game. I couldn't find a good ball and line combo that would carry. I also had an open in each game, one split and two multi pin misses. Still ended over average for the night but the opens kind of bothered me. I have had quite a few nights with none so having 3 in one night was very unexpected. 246-215-186 for a 647.

I started out ok, with a 216 in the opening game..missing only a 7 pin. The second game I went brain dead for some reason with three splits, and a few more easy spares that I just plain missed for a lovely 149. Wound up recovering somewhat in the last game for a 202 and a 567. Lanes broke down quickly and I just did not adjust correctly in the second game.

Tried out the new shoes last night. Let's just say it was adventure to start out the night. I used the default slide pad and heel (8 and 5 I think). First ball, stuck. Badly. Second ball, stuck again. I had gotten there late so I only got in 2 practice shots. I changed the heel to the #8 (the red one). When I stayed down, I was fine. If I was a little back on my heel, I about slipped. That happened the first frame of the first game on my spare shot. Missed the 6 pin. Ended with a 204. Next game, I was fine but I just couldn't get the ball outside. When I did, I struck. I had 2 opens in the game. A 3-9-10 that I got the 3-10 and a 3-6-10 that I sent a bit wide and missed the 3. Punched out for a 201. Last game, I was bowling well and had the last 5 for a 228 and a 633 series.

It was position round and the team we were playing is the same team that we bowled last week when I was out of town. Last week, they were all way over average and killed us 2 games and we squeeked one out. Same thing last night. First 2 games, they were over 1100. Last game, we were but they were at 1090. My teammate shot 244, 237, 287 for a 768. He got quick on his 11th and left the 2-4-8. He said that he adjusted because his ball was diving. His speed was way up though. This is his first year back after taking almost 4 years off. Not too bad. He had 2 bad frames. He left a 2-4-8-10 that he almost picked and a pocket 7-10. I am guessing before the end of the season he will have at least 1 honor score.

Last night, the only PBA card holder in our league, rolled his 3rd 300 in our league. It was strange because he missed the 11th shot by a lot, and got a crossover strike. The 12th was perfect. Guess the 11th showed some pressure. He was laughing while he rolled the 12th.
