cowboybrad, once you break that barrier you will probably do it a couple weeks in a row. I know when I shot my first 700 (I shot 698 twice before that) I did it in friday league, then again wednesday league and friday of the following week. I threw 3 in a row its just that first one thats tough. Good luck!

Brandon,
There is something to that positve thinking. Its funny, I knew about it,I used to preach it to the kids when I coached the high school team. I would tell them "If you think you can't do it..your already defeated".

Why I did'nt practice what I preached I don't know.

Its easy to say, but in the moment of battle sometimes its hard to do. I just try never to let carry bother me. I always think about single pin leaves like this, those pins didn't do that on purpose, and it wasn't a bad break. There is a reason why that pin is sitting there, now I have to figure out what it was. If you take your emotions out of the adjustments you will find it really easy to find carry. Everything (even the stone 8) has a reason for being there, its our job to interperet the "language of the pins" and know what they are telling us.

Way to go Tim,

I am glad to hear the positive thinking worked. Were you concentrating on executing shots too?

Brandon hang in there and just keep remember to try to execute the best shot you can.

As for me last night I had a another solid night. The first game was rough as I couldn't quite get zeroed in and had some nasty leaves but the rest of the night went very well. I shot a 567 (163,208,196) and we won 3.5 and lost 0.5 (Tied the first game). Like your games Tim they all were close (not as close as yours though, just ccame down to the last frame)and actually both teams were bowling over their averages so it was a real shootout and we came out on top. I have been over my average 5 of the last 6 weeks and have got it back up to 180.

Nice going Scott.
Yes, I guess I was concentrating on executing the shot. When things are going good, the shot is all you have to think about. Your not trying to correct a problem, clouding your mind with all kinds of potential cures. Should I change balls? Should I move? My arm swing is not right, I'm too fast, I'm too slow. All the while I'm thinking of all this stuff, I'm not paying attention to the shot at hand.

I am very happy about league tonight yet completely disappointed. The lanes were drier so I went away from the One Pearl, played up the 5 board (A game) and stayed with the Bash. The first game was clean with a 237. Now things get a bit more interesting.

2nd game: start out with the front 8 and then what happens? Pocket 7-10 on a quality shot! I threw 2 and an 8 count in the 10th for a 262=499 (nice 8 count Mike).

3rd game: I start with the front 10 and got a little right of my mark and there's my friend the 10 pin for a 289 game. That was a 788 series and basically blew a chance at 800 with the pocket 7-10 or a little more carry in game 1.

I'm happy because this year I added another 300 and now I have a new high series (old was 784). As a team we won big time and are cruising in first place with a 17-3 record (4 point system). I'm disappointed with what was a good shot and a bad result and a so-so shot and a bad result. I missed legit chances at back to back 300s and my first ever 800 series.

Watch tomorrow I shoot 600 in a no tap tourney I was asked to be a part of lol

Really good Mike. You seem to be holding a line all night. Just a while ago, it was up and down the next game. Glad to see you score.

That's definitely what happened, the line was there all night. This was the easier center I bowl at. Im still having difficulty on Tuesday because I dont have one but two 2 finger bowlers on my team and they play right where I like to. I start out to the right of them and when I make a move it's not a few boards its a few dots on the approach so I'm inconsistent. I don't have the revs they do but it sets up our anchor as they wear a line in for her as shes more of a pure stroker. I need to find a way to have nights like last night on Tuesday for a change.

To borrow a previously used title, tonight can be called The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

Good: Games got progressively better as the night went on.
I only missed one single pin spare that I can remember and that was when I gripped the ball the first time using it after if fell off my hand at the top of the backswing.
Solid pocket hits were strikes.
Converting two splits and almost getting the Greek Church, if only I would have gotten the 4 out too.

Bad: My games were 145, 155 and 167 for a 467.
Lack of hitting the pocket, sometimes due to me others due to trying to find a line that worked consistently.
Five splits on the night, four in the first game alone.

Ugly: My mental game falling apart due to not getting to the pocket.
Pulling the ball through most of the third game.
Poor Execution even when I thought I had a line that would get me to the pocket.
That my five strike game(first) was lower than the last two games that I only had two strikes apiece but a lot less opens, like two apiece.
