Ouch, sorry about that, Reconbbs. I hope your new ball (when you get it) is just as good.

I had Friday bowling on Wednesday this week (my team pre-bowled), and both nights we were on lanes 1 & 2. Conditions similar to what cgeorge was describing in another thread, with a very sharp transition between wet and dry that turned the track area into no-man's land. Our anchor on Thursday was just lost--I think he finished with a 54x, more than 100 pins under average.

Wed.: 227-180-212 619
Thu.: 236-181-181 598

Started out with an inside shot w/Sidewinder both nights, switched to straighter inside shot w/Liberator after that broke down. My accuracy with the Liberator was awful; last night I slowed down my approach (and ball speed) specifically to improve accuracy, and it didn't help in the slightest. I keep waiting for my leg to improve, but it hasn't happened yet.

Wednesday I missed a 10pin and left the 6 on a 6-10 in the second game, then left a solid 9pin and hooked around it in the 3rd game. Thursday I missed a 7pin and left a 4-6-7 in the second game, then lost my focus at the end of the third game, leaving a 3 on a 3-6-10, then a 5 on a bucket. Missing the 3 and the 9 kills me--I'm still casting around for a shot that will pick those up consistently--but it seemed strikes were the bigger problem this week.

In order to pick up the 9 pin I normally move myself 4 with my feet, 2 with my eyes left (righty) from my strike shot to pick it up. I don't think that I have ever missed a 9 pin this way as long as I hit what I am looking at.

Last night I threw a 652. Half decent night. But I was spraying the ball all over the place. I also was playing a line that I'm not used to due to the fact that my go to ball is in bowling ball heaven right now. =] hahahha. I just bought a ebonite playmaker. I'll have it by monday.

That's the rub, though, isn't it. frown

I think I moved seven boards, because I was coming in stiff-legged and also dumping it on occasion, then threw a decent shot without enough axis rotation. It honestly didn't occur to me that I might miss outside, since I've never been able to pick up 10pins with a strike ball.

Anyway, the next time I'll remember this and only move four or five boards.

The 3-6 won't be as easy to fix, since I'm changing both ball and line. I was throwing straight at it earlier, with mixed results, but I let the polish on my spare ball go to make 10pins easier...I guess I'll have to dedicate some practice to it next time.

Goatster, it seems with bowling, you go through confidence plateaus. If you are a 180 bowler, you anticipate a 525-565 every night. But, as your consistency improves, that range raises, and your low may be at 565.

That continues to happen as you improve, in timing, release, added revs, etc. Soon, you don't expect anything less than 600 with a high top side. As you improve, your memory of what you do right stays with you and the range goes up.

It's a matter of building confidence while you improve consistently.
