Yeah, as you can imagine, I was really proud of myself.

I would have much rather gone 290 to 190, if I had to drop 100 pins. At least I didn't shot 200 and do the same thing...

I had a similar thing happen to me last night. After bowling the first two games going just over average...I promptly follow with a...118!! Yay!! I just could not get my ball to the pocket for most of the night. My 09 resolution is not let games like that get me too down,..its like sk8shorty01 says, If Wes Mallot can do it...
Just have to regroup and got at it again tonight.

I had a bit of a rough night again... still trying to compensate for the overly played on house shot. I got a high game for the night of 213 and the rest of my 7 games or so, it was practice by the way, ended up between 160-170 with most of them closer to the lower end. I should have converted more spares even but have been really caught up in trying new things with my release and my feet, took my head out of the game. Most of the night I ended up only playing for spares because the strikes weren't really coming. The biggest problem was I was ending up with too many splits due to hitting high. I knew a line I could have shot but it would have defeated my purpose of working with my new things. But I did pick up a 6-7-10 split and a couple smaller splits too. Not a huge accomplishment but it felt good
You haven't hit the pocket well enough until you've Wrecked the Rack!

Tonight was my first night ever of league play. I attribute nerves and aggravation to my first game score or 136. Second game I didn't leave as many open frames as the first for a 154. Third game I was settling down a little and managed to bang out a 186.

Next week will be better........I hope.

I used the day off tomorrow as a good reason to not quit on the The Uprising. I had my local Pro Shop guy Jimmy go with 2000 grit and a light polish(oob is 4000). It pays to know the staff so he gave me a pair of freshly oiled unused lanes to try the ball on.

What a difference it made. The ball made a late strong move to the pocket. The heavy core still shows itself with a heavy roll that just pours on until its a some what violent skid/flip. I can not play this ball down and in, it needs room or it leaves 10 pins like crazy. I'm not sold on the ball completely but it does give me another look to the pocket when my benchmark ball fails me. The scores were from 192-238. I actually picked up 4 10 pins with the ball the last 2 games after using plastic for years. Not a few weeks ago I was lost. I doubled the practice and worked through it. I actually enjoyed myself tonight as I have my last 3-4 outings. I havent felt this lined up in a while Im expecting good things. Its funny how much better the sport is when it doesnt feel like work.

I'm finally solid enough that I don't feel like my mechanics are evolving from session to session, and I'm in form, so I decided to commit to bowling for score on Thursday, for the rest of the season. No more experimenting with different balls in different conditions, just go with the equipment I know will work, leave makeable spares, hook them with urethane and make them. I'm down at a 199 average halfway through the league, so I'll see how high I can finish with; my goal is to improve on my 206 average from summer league.

On Fridays, I'll keep trying to learn my newer equipment and throw straight spares with plastic. This way, I can keep experimenting and working on my game without (basically) sandbagging.

Anyway, tonight was the first Thursday league in a while, and the lanes were as dry as they've been for league all year. My legs were stiff again, so I started with my dry ball (Liberator), moved to medium (Sidewinder) the second game as my legs loosened up, then back to the Liberator mid-third game, after the second transition.

Score was 225-218-205 648. I missed one spare in each game: 10pin at the beginning of the first game, 4-6-7 in the second game, and left the 3 on a 3-6-10 in the third game.

My teammates didn't do so well, so we got one point out of four, but for the moment I feel pretty good about my game.

I took my Uprising down to 2000 as well but left it unpolished because I wanted an earlier midlane read to use it as more of a longer pattern or higher oil ball. The Uprising definitely needs room, the skid/flip is vicious. I have been using it on shots when the lanes get drier and playing deep with it, the skid/flip really pulls it back nicely. Also, now that the surface is down, the ball truly works well on a straighter shot on higher oil.

As for my night bowling, I bowled six games in an order I don't really like: 241, 148, 179, 148, 165, 206. My games in the 140's were games that hurt really bad because of cluster spares from me trying to find my line. My other games wouldn't strike too well and got me leaving many weak and ringing 10's. overall though, the night was enjoyable.

First league bowling of 2009:
180 - 214 - 187 = 581

Not as good as i wanted. spare pickup percentage was a lot better then last couple weeks, so two off maybe have cleared my mind. Just didnt have much carry 1st and 3rd game.
