Tonight was the first night of league after the Holiday layoff. I was rusty for not bowling in that time.
First game 18? with opens in the 8th and 10th. Missed ten pins in each. Actually had a No-tap 300.
Second game, the ball rolled much better on the first shot, but again, I missed a 10 pin in the tenth for a 22?.
During this game, my fingers started to swell. Don't know why, maybe from the layoff. So, I had to change balls, and take all tape out of another ball, just to get my thumb in. A teammate gave me her ChapStick to rub on my fingers, which helped.
Third game was a 200 with 2 open splits.

So, a low 600 for the night.

The team won 5 of 7.

PS: I rolled 5 BAD balls tonight. And, I mean they were not even close to my target. 3 crossed over, and 2 just stayed in the middle. And, wouldn't you know it, I got a strike on every one.

Meanwhile, the good balls would leave a pin here and there.

Go figure?????

Thats exactly how our opponents whole night was.
Nothing frustrates me more than our team being in the pocket all night and leaving pocket splits, ten pins, eight pins etc. we went 2-5 for the night. I shot 184(easy misses), 213(opened the tenth on a pocket 8-10), 191(open, spare, turkey, 3 tenpins(all spared),8-10 split, spare, strike)Atleast my release was more consistant.
On a side note, two lanes over both anchor bowlers had the first 9 going into the tenth. Righty gets up and leaves a solid ten, spares then strikes. The lefty gets up gets the first two(solid) comes up and leave a solid 7 pin for the 299. Was a treat to watch.

I shot 235-226-202 for a 663 tonight in league. I was clean the first two games, so the scores were fine. The last game, in the seventh frame I got to soft with the ball and went through the beak, 4-7-10. I got the 7 only and that was my only open. Overall it was a great night!

Same as last night. Start with a strike, then slow down and dive 3 straight times for split opens. Then a 10 pin spare and run the table for a 212. Follow up with a pair of high 190's. Each had an open and a split, but a turkey in the tenth to finish. So, a low 600 again.

My spare shooting and first ball lapses are killing me. And, I know it's in my arm, and can't stop it.

Hello All, just back from Thursday night leauge. only 2 games but a great night for me with 212 in the first, then a 203. left three opens, one in the first (5,8,9) and two in the second (4,7,8)then the dreaded (7,9)leaving one pin standing in each! about a month ago, on a couple of occasions, the ball slipped from my thumbhole crashing behind me(very embarassing!) so that made me start grabbing, and scores started going down!! after reading this forum, decided to get some tape in there and i have never released the ball so good!!!Team took full points and cruising in first possie. hopefully all up from here:) Cheers....

Wed. Night was the text book definition of blowing up. Start 257, great line, one 10 pin, one 9 pin, one 4 pin. Then my brain went to outer rim of the galaxy, shot 150 and followed with 232... for 639.

My resolution for 09 was steady improvement with the mental game, because as I have become more involved with the league (League President, running brackets, 50-50 and side pots) I'm finding that I am getting scattered or extra frustrated, particularly after something stupid happens (pocket 7-10, chopped 6-10, or missing a 4 pin to the left because the bowler to my left runs up the approach just as I started to the line)

It's a factor of the game that I just need to stop or process differently.

At any rate, I'm definitely loving me new Cell.

Not every day you see a 100 pin drop from one game to the next, but hey if Wes Malot can do it on National TV then why can't everybody? Thats the way I look at it. Its all just part of the game.
