Tonight was a lot better than the previous four league nights, over 100 pins higher than my highest series in that time frame which was a 509 or something like that last week. I don't think I threw the ball as well as I was part of last week, but I was way more consistent swing and release wise and kept the ball out of the gutter. My timing felt really good too.

The first game was a two open 235, and those opens were frames 1 and two. The first was a 2-4-10 split that I wasn't far off from converting but I left that by not getting anything on the ball at release. The second was a 10 pin that I just missed about half an inch to the left of. I then put eight of the next ten in the pocket for strikes. The two that weren't strikes was I believe a 2 pin when I got the ball out a little down lane and the didn't recover enough to hit flush, this was between two 4 baggers I believe or maybe a turkey and a 5 bagger. The fill ball I also bent my thumb near release and got the ball out down the lane with hardly anything on it. We win the game by just under our 120some pin handicap.

The second game was another 2 open game, but it was a 203, both opens back to back frames on one lane. One was a 10 pin that I put the ball in the gutter going for and the other was the 2-4 that I pulled the ball or lined up wrong going after. I had only 7 strikes this game and they were a little more broke up but I did string a 4 bagger. We win this game scratch.

The third game, I had yet two more opens, one of them a 10 pin that I pulled inside of, and the other a 6-10 that I think I pulled inside of. I did make a 10 in the tenth frame for a poorly executed fill ball that never made pocket, leaving the 1-2-4-6-10 for a 200 game even but we loose this game by over 100, 101 to be exact. Some of our bowlers feel off a little, but their bowlers also turned it up a little. I end the night with a 639 series. It could have been better if I converted those makeable spares, and a few better executed first shots.

As a side note a bowling acquaintance rolled his first 300 ever in the last game of the night. I've known him since I started bowling since he was in my first league and we have been in other leagues as well. He was bowling right in front of the counter and the cosmic crowd was coming in. It was announce that he rolled a 300 game and a few of people in line asked what does that mean. A very good female bowler that was watching the guy finish off the game tried to explain it and they just didn't understand it. This is the same center the 900 series was rolled in and a huge banner is hanging over the lanes in the middle of the center and they asked what does that mean and again she tried to explain it and they didn't understand it. She just didn't have the patience to try to explain it again, especially since she had been drinking some. Just goes to show you that many who throw a ball don't understand the game. ::Just shakes his head::

I am looking forward to getting back into the routine of league play. I have not bowled for two weeks due to the holidays. I resurfaced all my equipment to OOB finish with my spinner as I watched the bowl games this week. I went and practiced today, and I rolled the ball well. Balls reacted great. Looks like the layoff did me some good. Hope it carries over wednesday and thursday...I'm geeked!! wink

Friday was the start of the 2nd half. We bowled vacant which I'm not a fan of but we went in and took care of business by taking all 4 points. Despite getting some stitches on my stomach prior to league I went in and rolled 257-237-212 for a 706 series. I still had a few splits but was perfect on 10 pins. My new found timing and playing a straighter game is paying off. I need to eliminate those splits they are killing games/series. I think as a team we are going to finish the 2nd half pretty strong.

Tim,

I miss league play too. It seems like longer than 2 weeks. I did get practice in although it was mostly just practicing throwing it over my spot because the lanes were so bone dry they hooked into oblivion!!! Still at least I shouldn't be rusty come Thursday night.

with two weeks off from the game, I knew I was gonna be a lil shakey but WOW I'm sure glad we had 30 min of pratice. The lanes seemed flooded with a non snappy backend. I threw my entire bag at the lane and wasn't happy with any of the looks I got, didn't help my timing was off some too releasing a lil early. I borrowed a green scotch bright from a buddy hoping it was rougher then the 1000 grit ab pad I have. I sanded down the Kinetic and the BW Venom, my storm was left at 2000. I got to throw each ball a few times and was able to bit a lil on the backend.

So it begins......Right lanes, strike, left lane no carry, couple split on the left lane. Was having a rough night. I didn't see a strike on that side until the 10th when I changed my line 5bd to the right. Standing 21 and now breaking on the 4. Finished with a whopping 174 WOW and we lost by about 30.

Getting a lil upset on my game, I still joke it off with the other team but was happy I got a good look on the left lane. My timing started getting better and was able to play that outside line. Scored a 263 WOW, rung 10 pin on the 4th frame, and big four on the 2nd ball of the 10th OUCH

Third game started with a rung 10, then 5 X's then one dove the head pin hard again and left thebig 4 + the 9 ugly ugly church....I threw and knocked down the 6,7,10 LOL then struck out for a 251

Finished with a 688 with a +37 over ave for the night. Good save on what started off very rough.

Weird night in a good way. Practice was awful. I ended up with 4 splits before league started and had no idea what to do. I went with the Sure Fire and pounded out 247-224-244 for a 715 series and I won brackets. i had exactly one open all night, 10 pins were solid, my new found timing has pulled my game back into form and the confidence is growing. The average went to 215 and I'm feeling good about what I'm doing.

The stitches in the stomache are bothersome but i'll be damned if every time I'm injured I don't bowl well. it's like I'm forced to slow down and focus so I don't hurt myself more. I'm getting a few more stitches this coming Friday then I hope that is it for a while. What a good way to end what was a horrible day even by my standards.

Saturday evening the lanes were really fast... Standing 30 going across 19 out to 3 or so at the break point and I was still hitting Brooklyn. Put away the strong reactives and broke out the Sure Strike which still wasn't consistent. So I broke out the old trusty Saturn towards the end of the 2nd game and for the 3rd game. Shot a 186, 173, and a 199 for a 558. Luckily as a team we took 3 out of 4.

Did you try keeping the breakpoint in closer to the headpin? On really dry shots, getting it outside of 5 or 6 can be deadly. Try the deep inside line with a tighter breakpoint around 8-10.
