I think I might of found out that I'm releasing the ball different recently alot more. No two balls are the same in the past weeks resulting in various ball reactions not so much carrydown. My question is, will a glove or wrist brace help restore some of the consistancy?

I would imagine that would depend on what is causing the inconsistency. Are you bending your wrist back at the point of release? Is your hand in a different position everytime you bowl? Is the ball too heavy? Are you injured?
I would make sure that the ball is the right weight first. I would exercise my forearms to strengthen my release. I would use the brace as a last resort, not a first resort. With a brace, you can't readily change hand positions so easily. You are very restricted in what you can do with your hand positions. I don't always want my hand in the same position. If the lanes are drying up, or have extra oil, I like having the option of putting my wrist in whatever position I want without playing with a wrist brace.
The wrist brace will keep you from bending your wrist in any fashion except the position the brace puts it in. but one could still find a way to mess up the release.

I will echo what Smooth said. Also, are you noticing and inconsistencies when you switch equipment? Span/pitch differences can cause issues as well. Getting all of your equipment measured just to make sure is a good idea.

Also, how long have you been bowling? Inconsistancies in your game are rather common for new bowlers, thats why I ask. I have been bowling for three years now and I still find I have a few balls a game that have a different roll than the previous 7-10 or so.

I've been bowling a long time but just got back into it the past two years heavily. I don't think I'm injured and I'm using 15lbers. I just switched the last ball to 15. I've just noticed it the past few weeks that the balls have been reacting different. For example, my sting goes down the lane then snaps to the pocket(bam strike) next ball on same lane, same spot- slids with no snap at all (bam washout). etc etc.
It could be that I'm frustrated too

Frustration probably doesn't help at all. Also remember that trying to be perfect, or trying to make the ball do something, will most likely change your entire approach and release. It is best to think before you step on the approach about what you want to do, visualize your shot, then go. Make sure that once you get up on that approach that you are not thinking about doing certain things, as that will lead to bad shots. Zombie bowling is the best bowling around.

raggity,

I've been going through something similar the past couple weeks. Great game...poor game....great shot....poor shot.

I went to the lanes last night and told myself I wouldn't leave until I found the issue and fixed it.

Turns out I wasn't trailing my leg properly. I stabilized my upper body by putting out my non-ball arm, and focused on good follow-through. Boom, strikes at will and easy spares.

Often times when you're frustrated you have to step outside of yourself and dissect everything.

Right eastwest, you have to be able to have eye's from the back of the room to self help yourself. It is always easier to see problems when you have a broad view of the entire area, as opposed to having "tunnel vision" on the second arrow. Some bowlers end up getting close minded, and also close sighted in their approach. There are many clues that tell you what needs to be done during your night to keep yourself in the game, the object is to learn to recognize those pointers before they are glairing faults. Good luck!

Just keep yourself relaxed and watch the entire ball reaction. Also, get a feel for your body without paying attention to the outcome of the shot and see if anything feels "different" or out of place. That usually helps me out, and hopefully it will do the same for you.
