Hi everyone...my name is Eric or Little Eric. I started bowling again after a 14 year hiatus. When I bowled all the time in the 80's/90's I was in 2 or 3 leagues a week and averaged in the 200's.

Recently, one of the guys at work said he started bowling and I started giving him some advise. Advise turned into "maybe I'll come and bowl a few games with you". A few games turned into a every Tuesday thing. Now most of the guys at work turn out on Tuesdays and we're all talking about joining a league.

In the glory days I bowled with a Ebonite Nitro and bowled mostly on wood lanes. Now it seems like a new world out there with synthetic lanes and reactive balls. My Nitro and spare ball no longer fit, so I took the plunge and purchased up to date equipment. Now I'm throwing a Raw Anger, Cherry Vibe and a T-Zone spare ball. I'm averaging back up at 203 but still trying to get my body to move like it used to. I almost forgot...I'm a lefty.

P.S. Coach Jim~ I used to bowl at the old Reston lanes in the early 80's and then Dranesville, Centreville and Chantilly. Me and the boys at work now are bowling at the Falls Church lanes. Ever get out there??

Welcome to the site and back to bowling Eric. Your not the only on one here that took off right before the huge technology revolution, so others on this site know how you feel. I don't as the technology boom was well under way years before I ever picked up a ball. As you've already noticed there are others in your area on here as well. Hope to see you be active in the discussions.

Welcome to the site Eric, nice to see the NoVa crew expanding.

I bowled at the Reston Lanes back in the day when I was in youth league back in 79 or 80, one of the first tournaments I ever bowled in, shot my high set at the time which was 689 there and finished 3rd, so scores were high even back before urethane balls.

I am currently out of bowling because of injuries, but I still coach the youth league at Bowl America Gaithersburg on Saturday mornings, and give private lessons. I give discounts to members of this site, so let me know if you or your friends would like some lessons.

Much has changed over the years, so don't be surprised if you have to change a bunch of things from the way you used to bowl.

Welcome to the site Eric. I remember the Nitro. One of the better Urethane balls. The technology has taken leaps and bounds since then. Your in a good place to learn about them.

Welcome back Eric,
It looks like you have not lost a thing with getting your average up over 200 again. Welcome to the site too.

Glad to hear you are back, although the technology change is something I have no idea about as I just started bowling recently. This is my third season in Winter League, so I am still a newbie, but I am averaging 211 right now on a 41 foot house shot, so not to shabby haha.
