When i visualize in bowling, I picture how my arm moves, how the ball will come off my hand, when it will pick up a roll, and where. I see the ball plow through the deck. A lot of people do it this way or similar, I imagine?
when I REAALY need to make the shot (this is bizarre) I imagine the pins are penguins, and the lane is ice. It gets me focused for some crazy reason.

lol! that is a bit bizarre but it sounds just crazy enough to actually work. I like to think of the lane being extra slick too. for some reason, it makes me think about the ball reacting better, for some reason better. Also, I envision the line from me through my targets and through the pins. I can also envision the bowling ball to be like a wrecking ball crushing through the pins. for some reason, envisioning my shot doing better than it might otherwise do, tends to have the shot's end result better.
Another thing slightly related that I've noticed has been that when I start stringing together strikes I tend to get more one after another than I do just one by itself

I just visualize the shot I want to make, nothing special about. I try to take each shot by itself so one shot is not any more important than an other, even if it means a 300 game or 140 game.

After I find the breakpoint, I just visually draw a line from where my feet are at the line and keep the ball on that line to bounce off the break point. From the line, I see what bd it passes through the arrows and what angle. I adjust my line to find the best way to carry the pins rather then just hitting the pocket. Also is where I place the ball on the lanes. If dryer I need to loft the ball a lil to get past the middle dry spots, if soaked, then I'll lay the ball as close to the line as I can without loss of revs. After I roll the shot, I see if the ball is on Track and if it makes the turn in the correct spot to carry into the pocket and corner pins.

I mainly visualise connecting the dots. Where i stand to where i slide to where i lay down the ball to my target to break point to the pins. I try to visualise each shots even if its a single pin. I been trying to do it on a more consistent basis cause when i dont i find my self making a bad shot.

I pretty much see a line to throw along on the lane but that applies mostly for targeting. If I need to focus on something in particular in my approach, usually my release point, I use my mind's eye to see it.
The penguin's and ice is funny, but no different than imagining people in their underwear while you're giving a speech. When I have trouble with my release point I actually visualize it having a sound something similar to a quick movement sound in an anime or cartoon.

Couple of things here. First, I do what Brandon described by following the dots down the lane. Secondly, I try to visualize me from the rear, to notice my arm plane, timing and balance. I have started doing this since I had a friend take a video on his Cell phone when I bowl. You can really see problems more clearly from the rear.
And, lastly, I visualize a single pin as my Mother-in-Law, and I rarely miss. Oh, sometimes, she hides in that right corner, but I get her the next time.

Myself. I found just running a Track in your mind to where you want to go is the easiest.
As for looking for a breakpoint.. that is something hard to go by because of the lane changes. You're better off watching your ball and see where it goes because one lane will be different to the other. The only advantage that I found for myself using a breakpoint is starting off to see where it start but over time.. that breakpoint change.
