One more point, The pro sport I would recommend would be golf. You are too old to take up tennis and be a pro. Maria Sharapova is 21 and has won over $10 million dollars in 6 years!

Walter Ray has been a pro for 29 years and won just over $4 million dollars.

After taxes, sponsor cuts, and expenses that is about $62,000 a year.

Go to college, get a degree in business, accounting, nursing, engineering, medicine, law, and start out at age 21 making $50,000 a year and never leave home.

As Infernocal said, you just have to average 200 and pay them money.

Once you leave juniors, you might want to try your hand at local scratch tournaments and see how you fare before you start paying PBA member dues. Also, if you get your PBA card, you're not allowed to bowl amateur tournaments if there's a PBA event (regional or national) within a certain distance. I think it's 50 miles. You'll have to strongly consider that because amateur tournaments are usually cheaper and pay better.

You certainly can make more money bowling amateur because there usually are so many that you can enter, and the expense to get to them is generally just a drive, not a cross country trek.
