Lately I've been struggling with my bowling shooting under average for the last few weeks. Even during practice I've been struggling. My best friend gave me the book Focused for Bowling by Dean R. Hinitz. Within the first couple chapters I saw myself in that book and started to realize several things I needed to change.

So, today I went to pre-bowl for my league and thought about what I'd read in the book so far. Ended up shooting 192, 203, and 200 for a 595. Haven't shot that well in weeks.

I can't say the book was completely responsible for my shooting better but it made me really think about things I've been doing wrong mentally. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has let bad shots affect them or has focus issues of any kind. Heck, everyone should read this book. thumbsup

Do you need to read Revolutions to understand Revolutions II?

You think Dr. Dean's book is good. Hit a couple clinics with him. He's a fascinating lecturer and has some really great on lane teaching skills.

The best thing about Dr. Dean is that he is proficient in quite a few sports, very athetic and familiar with the arena of competition whether that be state tournys, or simple league competition. Most of this I would gather is gained from his martial arts experience. And he's an accomplished bowler (over 200 average). He's not one of these guys that's learned sports phsycology but can't shoot a 150 game. He's been in our sport and knows its own pit falls.

hmmm...wish i had those books, especially dr. dean's book. i can't for the life of me figure out how i can go 666-672 in one weekend to 530-528 the next two to 719 (and 950 for 4 games) this weekend.

dj, do you find those revoultions books helpful? they sound to me like potential investments.

yeah, the tournament was very fun, and i did have to sandbag, but when i had to return to form in order to get the necessary shots, i was able to slide back into routine very quickly. i remember the two weeks with the low 500s that i had one good game where i seemed to fall into a set routine, but the other two games i either wasn't there yet or lost it somewhere. yesterday i found it very quickly in practice and never lost it (until i had to, at least). so yeah, lack of focus sounds about right.

i had my sister order dr. dean's book for me for christmas, so i'll have it for then. i'll have to read through it a lot over the following couple of days, i have a holiday tournament the saturday after christmas, and it is my favorite tournament of the year.
