Lately on TV they have talked about how the pros work the inside part of the ball and amatuers work outside part. I have yet to figure out what they mean. What do they mean by working the inside part of the ball. Would someone care to give me a full description of what that exactly means? Thans to everyone that has any comments about this.

Are they referring to the core and the exterior pattern of the coverstock ?

They are talking about keeping the fingers on the inside part of the ball (closer to the body) during the swing and up to the release point. Joe Slowinski wrote an excellent article on this that is probably my most pasted link on this site:

Basically take a look at a video of Tommy Jones. You will see the back of his hand is facing toward his body and he doesn't start to come round the ball until he is starting to release the ball, which means after his thumb begins to exit the hole.

Thank you. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what they were talking about.

Another good visual is if you look at the poster of the pros on Vise Grips' website.

I printed the article, read it and went to the lanes and bowled 3 before leauge, first game was awful, then improvment. Durning leauge i bowled a 590 which is better than i have been rolling. My wrist, hand and arm is a bit sore from the change but i think i was really rolling the outside and this is going to help. thanks for the tip
