Mike:
Gotta love when you don't listen to doctors orders. My doc told me after my knee surgery no driving for 6 weeks. I was driving after 10 days.
You had surgery. My wife has a sprained ankle, and I have been driving her to work for 3 weeks now. Is she taking advantage of me?

I've had some put me out of commission for two weeks. But I don't know, she could be. MAybe she wants to spend more time with you.

I had surgery again yesterday. They removed a bump on my knee that was bothering me. I would have driven myself to and from the hospital but my family wouldn't allow it. I asked my doc if I could bowl today and he said yes. My wife is a little pissed that I am going tonight. I told her that I asked the doc and he said it was fine with it. She was still upset and I told her that I can still walk so I can bowl. No beer for me tonight though. Beer and vicodin don't go well together.

Beer and vicodin don't go well together. Now you tell me. I would have skipped the vicodin.

Lead bowler should be able to close boxes, ig consistent spare shooter, not necessarily someone who is explosive with strikes but shaky on spares. Someone who is steady that you can count on for marking.... Anchor bowler should be the best clutch bowler, someone who can strike out for the win, or make a spare for the win. Doesn't have to be the highest ave on the team, just the best in the tenth frame. Someone when its all on the line will deliver. Basicly someone that if they need a strike to win a game, you know they will hit the pocket with a good shot, and then it just becomes a matter of carry...

Scores are all relative to the scoring pace of the lane condition. This means if everyone and thier brother is striking, you better strike, if no one is stringing strikes, keep the ball in play and make your spares.

LOL GP. In my mind's eye I can see you getting those same dirty looks I get when I say I'm going bowling when it's a bit above and beyond. Bowling is a 2.5 hour escape from life and I need it more and more these days. I'll give that suggestion a try with the Paradigm. That's been a great ball for me over the years. Good luck with the knee.

I've seen the high average bowler be leadoff several times. For two seasons in a row I was high on my Saturday night league and was leadoff. I like it and have thought about talking to my current team about putting me at leadoff this season. Right now we have our low average bowler starting things off and our highest two average bowlers are sitting 3 and 4 out of 5 bowlers. I'm the highest and sitting third. I can go anywhere in the line up, even as anchor as its all the same to me, which means making the best strike shot I can and cleaning up what I leave if it doesn't carry all ten.

My Week 12 bowling (BowlSK)As I note in my blog, tonight was a serious case of my spare game deserting me after the first game. It might be time to see my coach about my spare system, but with a class reunion (the 25th of the class before mine) and the holidays approaching, I don't want to commit cash to a coaching session at this time. Team had a rare point-and-a-half performance...see the blog for what happened in the second game. Blog: http://tenthboard.net/2008/11/19/getting-unraveled/

Had a bad night last night. 179 - 178 - 189. My problem was my carry. Too many 9-pin counts. Never had a turkey all night, but after a double, I was assured to leave a single pin. 6 - 10 pins. 4 - 8 pins. A few 4 pins and a 7 thrown in. I also had 2, 4-9's and 2 pocket 7 - 10's. The entry angle could not be maintained. 5-6 degrees left 10's and the 7 - 10's. Too straight left other back row pins. I moved all over from playing up the 5 to rolling over 13 out to 8. I covered the approach from standing on 15 to 30. I moved and retargeted, and retargeted and moved. Nothing seemed to work. It worked for others, so I had better figure this out. It wasn't fun when I had to figure out each and every ball that I threw. And, after reaching second place, we lost 2 games for the first time in 7 weeks. I didn't help the team much either. Only 1 of us was over average.

Back from deer camp,(with a right eye swelled shut from a pine tree alergy) and back to bowling. I started out good with a 235, then did not adjust properly, and finished lousy. I don't even remember the last two scores, but I finished with a very drab 552. I had iced my eye before I went to bowl, managing it to open up to where I could see. As the night went on it gradually swelled again to where it was a disraction. Sounds like a good excuse to me, but its not meant too. I just did not bowl well.
