Thanks guys! I feel pretty accomplished about that day in general. Up to 200 average in my handicap league and an honor award in my PBAX league, that's my best outing in quite some time. What I wished for more than another game was to have that 135 be a decent game like my second and third games. I guess I should have been playing up 5 all day, but for some reason I chose against it because the one time I tried it in practice my ball went through the nose. Either some oil got pushed over there or I did something wrong to make it do that.
What kinda makes me wonder is the fact that swinging the ball even a couple boards gets me in trouble even on a shorter pattern. That is, unless I'm as far outside as I was. I was actually able to miss a board right and still strike, but if I moved in there was no room for error.
That was week 5 on Viper so we get a new pattern for the next 5 weeks. We don't what it is but I'm guessing it'll be Scorpion or Chameleon, and I hope Cheetah is last.

The lanes had a new oil tonight. The laneman said it should last longer. And, it did. I hardly had to move all night. Games: 259 - 224 - 185 for 668.
A strange thing happened tonight. Our scores in the second game were: Bowler 1 224 (me) Bowler 2 165 (our handicap) Bowler 3 224 Bowler 4 224 Bowler 5 224
Yep, 4 of us shot 224 in the same game. This was the only game we won.
We changed our lineup. I used to follow the 2 bowler who bowled 3rd. I was having trouble there. We changed me to leadoff, and in the past 3 weeks, I have been the highest bowler.

That's a pretty cool game to shoot as a team Dennis. And it's good that you're in a position where you can score well again. I usually like to be lead off in my teams as well, but my position is generally relevant to the rest of my team. I'm leadoff in my PBAX league(3-person), and third in my handicap league(4-person).

I never cared for the lead off spot(it's where I bowl on Tuesdays). I'm not a "set the tone" kind of bowler. I do better in the 3rd sport as a set up guy. That's weird seeing that many 224s in the same game.
As for me I brought my oldest ball the Paradigm out of retirement. Last week was dead dry and everything over hooked. I rolled 215-255-234=704 series. I was only 1 of 3 on my ten pins and I didn't cover a baby split in the 10th of the 1st game other wise I was clean. As a team we only took 2 of 7 points on the night.
I'm pretty excited too my physical therapist said in ~2 weeks I should be ready to get back on the lanes lol

I prefer to be deep in the order, 4th or anchor. I am currently bouncing around between the top 3 spots. I guess that's what you get when you are put on a tea of 4 others that already know each other. I'm high average on the team by 10 pins though, and I've never seen the high average bowl lead off.
To me, bowling lead off makes me feel disconnected from the results of the game.
Nice bowling Dennis.

The position does mean a lot to me. I have a tendency to match another bowler in speed and timing. If I bowl after a quicker bowler, in tempo, I bowl quicker. So, following a better bowler (the other team anchor) I will bowl better. When I followed our weakest bowler, I would do similar things that he would do.
I guess if the previous bowler had a hop, I would hop too.
On Wed, I am 3rd of 4, following my friend who I know his style well.
Our anchor, tonight, is our highest bowler, who used to leadoff.

I think that the lead off bowler should be your most consistent. I always liked it. In college, they tried to put me at 4th or 5th a few times, I always went back to 1st.

Gotta love when you don't listen to doctors orders. My doc told me after my knee surgery no driving for 6 weeks. I was driving after 10 days.

I don't mind bowling where ever in the line-up. It doesn't bother me so much. However, I have been bowling lead-off and I like that spot. My teams seem to feed off of my play so I like I'll stay there if I can. Additionally, I like bowling the anchor position. Something about being a closer just feels so good.
