j_w73, i agree about putting white
tape in the front of the hole. it provides a little clearance from your thumb and the bevel. i have very little to no bevel now so that
tape there is much better.
honestly, i don't see you can get rid of that slippage from just
tape. just the way my thumb is angled compared to the pitch of the thumb wouldn't allow it to sit straight in the hole.
does your thumb still lock on the ball? do you have any over/under thumb pitch? what's your span and thumb pitch?
My span is just under 5 inches- fingers at 0 forward/reverse pitch.. thumb at 3/8 reverse and 1/8 right.
I tried it with the
tape in the back with a black piece as the last piece to provide a smooth surface.. I didn't like it and was haging up. I think I was catching some of the white
tape so that could have been the reason. I didn't have much time to mess around with it.. I might try it again.. but I think the
tape in the front provides the benefits I mentioned earlier.
I have heard that the
tape in front lengthens the span abit.. I would agree..
I have heard it also adds reverse.. I don't know about this.. I guess it could sort of or have the same effect with the gap it provides from the edge of the hole.
not sure what you mean by my "thumb still locking" with the
tape in the front I am able to come out of the ball alot easier and with much more confidence. I have also that I like a looser thumb hole as I change my release and hand position throughout the night and do alot of at the line adjustments..
a really tight thumbhole doesn't allow me the freedom I need to do this..
I have realised that I might grip the ball a bit to prevent the ball from slipping.. If I completely relax and have a looser thumbhole the ball will slip a bit and the catch.. sometimes I put my hand in and then have the ball slip and catch before I start my swing.. so that way I don't have the ball movement during my swing.
If I didn't answer your question let me know and I will be happy to help
