I was just thinking that it might be of interest to the board community to know what old bowling balls from the pro-shop out here go to Tippi Hedren's Shambala Preserve for the lions to play with.
What do other pro-shops do with theirs?

When I was a kid, I used to give my bowling balls to the neighbor. He had a farm. He would give them to the pigs and they would play with them. They loved then. I took the grips out first.

GP. don't pigs use finger grips?

Never used them for target practice. But, I have spray painted a couple in bright silver and copper and have them in the garden as gazing balls.

Dennis:

The neighbor was afraid that they would choke on the grips.

My wife takes some of my old ones and makes like a gazing ball. She takes the decorative beads that you can find at a craft store and glues them on a ball with silcone. When the sun hits them, they put off some pretty cool colors.

we put a couple in our home garbage, and then watched eagerly for the truck to come. That "THUNK" is very satisfying.

I've been giving my old bowling balls away to anyone who wants one. Ten years ago when I switched to 15 lbs balls I gave away all of my 16lb balls away with the exception of my Ebonite Omega and a Columbia Blue Dot which I kept for sentimental reasons.

I give my unwanted bowling balls away usually. One or two have been "set free" in the drive way after a bad night on the lanes the others sit in storage for keepsakes (1st 300 etc).
