So last night 2nd game tenth frame,
I throw a strike, and await my ball to return,
Alas after calling the desk, and having the backshop has to kill both lanes, Then all balls start returning,
Except , for mine, Until a few seconds later, I
see the Laneman coming out of the backshop carrying what\
looks like my ball,
On closer examination, This is my ball, but has been
completly destroyed, deep 1/2 inch grooves in parts of the ball.

I copuldnt finsih the game with it, So I went
to my Rush, and played inside.

My only concern is with my Cell.
I truly loved this ball, It has such a
great reaction, and was clean through the heads, without
giving an over/under reaction compared to
any of my other balls I have used.

This ball was a pro-cg,
With the CG kicked way out, the ball worked wonders,
And when the lanes would carrydown, this ball didnt snap,
and run through the nose, It was always consistent, and had
a gradual arc, no matter the condition.

I have bowled so well with this ball,
That I would want my replacement to be exactly the same.

The pro-shop owner drilled my Cell that was damaged,
He promised the same replacement,

But I know he wont buy, and really doesnt like to drill,
pro-cg , pins or x-outs.

This is a picture of the cell after drilled.
When I first got it 2 months ago.

What a real bummer! I'd hope that your driller can do his best to get as close to the same thing as possible. Good luck with it and keep us updated.

Well if you are offered a replacement ball then that's a h eck of a lot more then most centers would do. Just make sure that you have the Pro Shop order you a ball for your correct hand; i.e. right hand or left hand.

You mention that they had to turn the lanes off and then the balls started comiing back afterwards. Does that mean that every one threw their balls despite people before them not getting their balls back? I mean from that reading, I'm wondering why everyone kept throwing balls if they were not coming back.

The reason the shop doesn't like to drill "pro pins" (and I use that term lightly) and X outs is because they cannot guarantee the ball movement. It takes a lot of extra time to weigh out the balls from beginning to end and a lot of interspection to get the ball to do what the customer is expecting. In other words, they are a pain in the "youknowhat" to drill. On top of that, their local distributor doesn't really have balls like that in stock. The only place the ball manufacterers dump those balls is the internet.

As I stated in the other thread, that layout is basically a stacked layout, which can be recreated with non-pro-cg Cell that has a decent pin-cg distance (3-4 inches). They may need to add a weight hole to get it legal, but that can be done in a way that doesn't affect the ball reaction (with Mo's Gradient Hole system, somewhere around P2 is usually neutral).

Sorry to hear about your Cell. The pin doesn't look that far out. I don't think that he would have a problem getting one with a similar pin. Yours looks around 3-4" like CG suggests.

Good luck.

That sucks man, hope you get it figured out. Though I agree with Erin, why did people keep throwing balls without any returning?

There was 3 balls total, Mine, the person that bowled before me,
And the person that was up for the other team,

I do remember both lanes blacking out, in the pit area, then 2
ball were returned, and mine was walked up.

Im not sure what happened , as I was pretty livid about my ball.
And it was about 5-10 minutes before I finished the 10th frame.

This was my best benchmark , heavy oil ball to date.
It does make me happy, that the layout can be re-produced.
As that is/was my main concern.

Thanks for all your comments,
I will keep you updated when I know more.

Where do you live? This happened to my friends just recently as well. Was it at a Brunswick center in Central Florida?

I agree with what cgeorg said. The CG placement doesn't matter. You may have to drill a weight hole to make the ball weigh legal, but that won't make a difference.
