So last night, I was bowling league and I shot an impressive 596. The games were as follows: a 218, a 175, and a 203.
The reason last night was a success was because I took a piece of advice one of my fellow bowlers got for Mika at a clinic, and kind of used for my own purposes to
tape up my thumbhole. Now I know that you can only get so close with
tape, but nothing like 5 pieces of
tape in your thumbhole to tell you that it needs adjusting. Regardless, I got a pretty close and good fit and I was grabbing the ball way less last night...to the exstent that I did it on like 3 balls total (and I know the reasons why I did that).
Also the ball felt like it was going to slide off my hand on my backswing, but I trusted my
tape job to hold it on and it worked fairly well. I definately got a freer swing, but I think I'm cutting off my backswing every now and again. So I'm going to have to work on that i.e. more one-step drills.
Lastly, my spare shooting killed me. I really should've had 656 series had I picked up my spares. I only had one that I couldn't get (without a lot of luck) and that was a 4,7,10. The others I should've had. Plus I opened in two the three frames that I absolutely hate opening in. And I know I was having trouble with my spares (and most of them wer on the left side). I had my body aligned to go at them but not my arm so my body went at the pin but not my arm causing me to miss. But I didn't figure that out until after I was done bowling.
As always, comments, opinion, suggestions are always welcome.
The Demo-Man
I mentioned some of these things on another thread but I thought I should start another one so that, that thread doesn't get hijacked.
