Bowled a game and a half, when I noticed my ball had nicks on the surface. It looks like someone took an ice pick and hit it all over. I showed another bowler, and he said, that's why he put his other ball away, the same thing happened. So, I brought him with our balls up to the desk. The desk girl called for the mechanic, who took photos of the balls.

Then another ball came back the same way. By the end of the night, there were 6 balls, all in the same condition. And, it all happened on lane 16.

I talked with the desk girl about getting them refinished. This is a Brunswick house and doesn't have a Pro Shop. they would have to send them out to get fixed. I asked where, and they said at the Brunswick house only 2 miles from my house. I said, give me a letter of authorization, and I will bring them in myself. I know the Pro Shop guy there.

So, I have 6 damaged balls in the rear of my SUV to be dropped off tomorrow.

Here's the kicker. The desk girl had to fill out a Damaged ball report, which is nothing but a list, indicating lane #, bowler's name, ball name, date, and some other stuff. I looked at the list, and said, that's a lot of balls damaged. She responded, oh that is for a couple of months. I looked closer, and of the 20 or so lines on the list, all but 1 was from the same lane.

This problem has been there for months, and they haven't fixed it yet. I will refuse to bowl on lane 16 the next time I am scheduled there.

Imagine that most bowlers don't know to either sign in their damaged ball or think to look that the lane they were on was a repeat offender of damage.

Dennis with everything you've posted recently of this center I'd be surprised if it stayed open throughout this winter season.

Just brought all of the balls in to be fixed. Two of them did not have holes deep enough to be filled. So all they can do is surface finish them to knock off the edges.

I, on the other hand, was lucky. My holes are deeper, and they can be filled. We counter the holes on my Terminator. 87 holes can be filled, and 23 cannot. On my shift, he can fill 45 holes and not the other 44. He also cautioned that, even though the holes can be filled, the filler may fall out with use.

A real bummer.

I agree with Erin, seems like that house is doing everything in its power to become extinct.

That's too bad Dennis... guess it's time for some new equipment! I've gotten a nice gouge on my Battle, and a belt burn on my Cell from this house that I frequent. Sadly they didn't have a pro-shop at the time and I declined to be without my bowling balls... Very unfortunate thing to happen, especially with the cost for some of these pin smashers.

Poorly maintained and ran houses stay open all over the place, so I don't see this one closing any time soon.

As for the damage to the bowling balls, that's just crazy to have that many balls damaged that way from the same lane over a period of several months. Also that many holes in one ball is ridiculous and unfortunately that many would need to be fixed, or the ball replaced.

I would hope that they would just replace the equipment. After a certain point, the ball is no longer the same.

Especially if there are a bunch of them in the Track area, that's always my biggest concern. As long as its not in the Track and not interfering with my gripping hand I usually don't mind, but that many damaged areas on one ball in one night....::just shakes his head::.
