Geez I stink, If I can ever get my act together and get rid of these splits, I may actually become....a "bowler". I am so disappointed in the fact that I am having trouble adjusting to actually put the ball in the pocket after plowing through the nose over and over.
I make a move,..I cross over brooklyn. I try another move, a washout, 4-7-10 split, 6-7-10, ..8-10. I had a real nice variety. I did make most of my other spares, but again the splits, and lack of strikes are killing me. I'm close, my timing and balance are much better..but I'm not quite there yet..obviously.

The oil was back, and my mechanics were gone at the start; the first few frames, it felt like I hadn't bowled in weeks. I finally got somewhat consistent by putting all my attention on the release and letting everything else drop, but it was too late to salvage the first game. The ends were tricky and fried by the last half, but my Doom took care of that (as long as I kept moving.)
Highlight of my night was the 6th frame of the third game, where I dumped the ball high for a 6-10, then chopped the 10 leaving the 6. Still, I dragged my Thursday average back up to 201 (I'm at 204 on Friday), so it seems making wholesale changes to my shot the week before leagues started hasn't hurt me much.
Our team ran into a buzzsaw and we were lucky to salvage the last game for a 1-3 night. The second game, a nice young woman with a 160 average matched me shot for shot, nipping me in the 10th for a 237...

Well I guess I've got to get worse before I get better. At least the good news is that my team finally won its first game... make that two of the three.
I'm almost hesitant to post this but ... here goes. I went 115, 131, 148 for a whopping 394 series last night. How embarrasing! The ball and my release felt nothing like it did this past Sunday when I went for practice; I was working on keeping my wrist loaded and using the doorknob turn method. I had a limp wrist, the ball kept falling off my hand, little to no revs, ball was sticking on my thumb at times, etc. It made for a very bad night so much so that I lost a little sleep over it. For some reason my mind is wired to analyze things whilst I sleep. I guess I'll have to up my frequency at the lanes so I can engrain the muscle memory into my hand/wrist for my updated release. I hope I have better luck next week as I don't think it can get much worse than this.

Let1, I've been there and know how it feels to shoot a 300ish series. Keep working on your fundamentals and it'll click for ya.

I shot two series of sub 400 in one week last summer. One was in a tournament. This was with a 195+ average. So I know how it feels. Last season I almost bowled one starting out with a 93 but redeemed myself in the last game.

Well, I have been bowling as a sub on a team for 1 member who had minor knee surgery. They will return in late October, so I will be there a while. I have been shooting really poorly and am about 30 pins under normal average. But, this team doesn't care.
They are 22-6 after 4 weeks, and 1 point out of first. They have never been that high. And, bowled together for 4 years. My lower average hasn't hurt them at all. In fact, another bowler on the team, about my normal average, has been having similar problems.
What they remember, as they remind me, was the spare that I made to win a game. The Double I got to win another. And, I picked up a split to win a third. 4 weeks and they remember 3 frames.
Sure glad they forgot the other frames. I haven't.

I knew that last night was going to be interesting for me. We had our back to school night on Thursday, which doesn't end until 9:30 at night and then I had to drive the 27 miles home, so it was a long day. Woke up yesterday morning knowing I didn't get enough sleep from the day before. By the time I got home Friday, I had a wonderful pounding headache and was still really tired. At league, my physical game was actually pretty good, I was coming out of the ball good and I think I only missed the pocket 2-3 times. Unfortunately, carrying was a little tough and mentally, I was out of it and I missed two easy spares. Ended up with a 194, 224, and 231 for a 649. Considering how I felt the whole night, I was pretty pleased with the night. As for how the team did, I'd prefer not to talk about it. Mark
