Looks like they are going to build a stadium in Disney for Nationals.

I'm pumped for 2011. Where can I get a Mickey spare ball? Vis a ball or whatever?

Some people would say that I should get a Goofy one.
Beat you to it, GP.

Nice.

All I know is that the next 6 years for Nationals for me are going to be expensive.

2009 - Vegas - A couple that I bowl with is getting married while we are out there.
2010 - Reno - Always an expensive trip.
2011 - Orlando - First time that the family will be with me on a bowling trip. Going to Disney. I think that the number of family and friends going right now is about 20.
2012 - Baton Rouge - The last time it was there, my teams stayed in New Orleans and drove the 80+ miles to bowl. That is the plan again.
2013 - Reno - See above.
2014 - Orlando - My boys will be 6 and my daughter will be 9. Guessing we are all going back to do it again.

It would be nice if they came to the east coast more often.

They need to get a city out there to put in a bid. I have contacted the USBC about host cities. A city has to put in a bid for it. They have to have a convention center that is available from January until August. Then, they have to have a lot of hotel space. It is quite a process. Now, there is only 1 bid due every 3 years because it being in Reno then Orlando.

Orlando might be my first trip to Nationals, if I can get a team together and can afford it. I doubt I will be able to go before then.

I kind of like the alternating Reno, Orlando, and another City set up. West, then Southeast, then somewhere else. Just need to get the third City with direct flights from Chicago. I hated the Corpus Christi trip. Chicago to San Antonio, wait 3 hours for a connecting flight or drive 100 miles. I chose to drive, since I would have rented a car anyways.

Then, I missed the return flight because of traffic troubles. It allowed me to see the Alamo, which I have never done before.

I don't think I have a direct flight anywhere except to the major hubs.

I love to travel, but wouldn't mind another Knoxville, or Huntsville, or Syracuse or someplace I could drive to. Flying with equipment has gotten too expensive and complicated.

I wasn't a fan of Knoxville. I liked being able to drive to the tourney though. That was nice having my own car there. Something else in the midwest or east would be nice. But again, the city has to make the effort to get the tourney. I fly southwest so taking equipment isn't expensive for me. I take (2) 2 ball bags and carry on my clothes.

This is pretty much old news, since I live in Orlando. They have been talking about this for a long time. Right now there are lanes by University of Central Florida where the collegiate team plays and that is 100 lanes as well. I'm sure that it will be no where as near as beautiful as the Disney property though. I am looking forward to bowling in many tournaments there.

Since the airlines have put in so many limiations and fees for flying in general I think we will see a decrease in participation in general. Doesn't matter where the tournament is, a significant amount of people have to fly in and that's become a huge hassel. Air travel used to be a luxery and now its worse then driving your own car. It'd take more then a National tournament to get me to fly across the entire country No one could pay me enough to do it.

So when these events happen they have to be in major hubs across the country. Knoxville is nice, flown in there for conventions, done that. Atlanta, the same, Dallas, St Louis etc..... But in order to make it worth the flight the location has to be accessable to as many as possible. Plus if the hotel costs are too high then there's no sense in bringing conventions there: i.e San Francisco, Chicago or NYC.

I think that we are going to have that issue in Orlando. Staying on Disney is going to be pricey (I think) so we would have to stay outside of the Disney property in order to keep hotel costs down. We normally don't rent a car. We go from the airport to the hotel and are within walking distance of where we bowl. If we are outside of Disney, we would have to get a car or cab it. There goes our savings.

Not many people that stay in Orlando, stay on the Disney property. Trust me when I say that there are very inexpensive options for lodging around the Disney property. To be honest, staying on Disney property is like committing financial suicide.

Well to revive a month old thread, for those who might not have heard, the Nationals will not be in Orlando in 2011.

Here's the article.

I have a feeling that we will be going shortly there after anyway. My wife's best friend is a teacher so she wasn't going to go cause school wasn't going to be out. Now that we don't have to go at the end of May, we can wait a few weeks until she is out of school. Here is the list of the people going now. Disgusting.

5 Me, my wife, 3 kids
7 Wife's best friend, her mom, her sister, niece, brother-in-law, his parents
4 Friends of the family (2 kids)
3 Friends of the family (1 kid)
2 Brother-in-law and his gf
1 Mother-in-law
1 Wife's aunt

Without my parents, that makes 23. I have a feeling that this may grow even more. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL GP, way to bring the ARMY! I have a feeling the only way I can talk the woman into going for Nationals is to say, hey baby "Lets go to Vegas and get married. Oh and by the way I have to bowl for a few hours while we're there."

Ample:

Funny you say that, a couple that I bowl with are getting married while we are there this May. Bachelor/Bachelorette party on Friday, Wedding on Satuday, bowl Sunday and Monday.

Ample, that would be really cool to have the proposal broadcast on the big screen at Nationals. I'm sure it would touch the hearts of some of the older women, there to watch their hubbies.
