What are spares? Are those that other type of mark other than strikes? LOL. Nothing like tossing a five bagger and a few other strikes and just barely getting a 200.

Yeah, spares. The foundation of any decent game when you're not consecutively stringing. Looking over my bowlsk profile, great games became good games, by simply missing a few spares here and there (mostly ten pins). At least I know what to practice when I go through my spare system.

How do I practice picking up the Greek Church? Or a 4-6? Seems like my spare leaves of late don't have pins next to each other that I can pick up. Oh yeah, and that dreaded split, the 3-6. Always leave the 6.

Dennis:
When I was bowling in college, the manager would actually oil his lane a little longer than all of the rest of the lanes. Since it was an old wood house (on campus), you could see the oil line really well. You could see that his lanes were ALWAYS oiled 5 feet longer. He would oil to 35 on 10 lanes and to 40 on his. We called him on it one day. He said that the machine must have messed up. His lanes were the same as ours for about a week or so. Then, he they were 5 feet longer again.
There isn't a lot you can do in your case since everyone is bowling on the same condition. You can get a little extra satisfaction though when you beat him.

Greek church: The only way I have seen it picked up with regularity is if you hit the 6-10 pocket light where the 6 pin then grazes the 9 pin. The 6 pin will then go accross the lane and kick out the 7 then 4 pin.
4-6? Throw it hard and hope you get a good bounce.

Mine have been dandy's as well. The lovely 6-7-10, or 4-7-10 is always a pleasure. I have also seen the 4-6 a little more than I would like to. So my spare game has been dreadfull lately. But.......It all changes this week. I had a decent practice Sunday and I am optimistic for the week ahead.

I made the greek church a few times by clipping the 4-7, and sending them to the right. As Napoleon Dynamite would say,.."LUCKY"..LOL.

Had a big'ol fight with the woman so bowling wasn't really in my mind... Shot a 172, 123, 188. Should have a 159 average next week. Hopefully it will climb, but hey the handicap is nice LOL.
